TOI: Karan turns spiritual leader

Actor Karan Sharma, currently seen in 'Pavitra Rishta', loves trying out new roles and looks on camera. To sate his creative hunger, the actor shot for a documentary where he plays spiritual leader JP Vaswani — head of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission. So, how did he end up playing the part?

"A friend told me he was looking for someone who could portray JP Vaswani in a series of short films based on him. I auditioned and got selected." Karan read about the spiritual leader, checked out his old videos and spent time with him, while preparing for the role. "He is charismatic with a disarming smile. It was really difficult to play Vaswaniji. The series of short films required me to play him through ages 15 to 90. In fact, is followers wanted to shoot in Jakarta, Indonesia so recently we went there to shoot one of the shorts."
