Over the past few days, Karan Johar's new co-production (with Phantom), Hasee Toh Phasee (HTP) has been shot across several locations like Bandra, Powai Lake and Film City. But about three-four days ago, the Sidharth Malhotra-Parineeti Chopra starrer ran into trouble when director Vinil Mathew was about to go ahead with a shoot scheduled at the ever-busy Crawford Market. The reason behind this stall was the recent strike that city retailers' held against the newly announced Local Body Tax (LBT).
"Yes, since the film is largely being shot at real locations across the city, Vinil was very keen to capture the madness of a busy market. But when the time came to shoot for the scene, the LBT strike was on. All shops were shut and the area looked desolate. Therefore, they had no other option but to cancel the shoot that was supposed to go on for around three days," says an industry insider.
Now, the makers have rescheduled the shooting to a later date, which is yet to be decided upon. "They don't want to shoot the scenes on a set. The idea is to capture the magic of the location, which they feel can't be recreated," adds the insider. The shoot begins again in a few days' time. The cancellation has apparently cost the maker about R2 crores.
When contacted, Vinil confirms the news: "Yes, we had to cancel the shoot around Crawford Market. But otherwise, it has been going great. Both Sidharth and Parineeti are superb actors and are getting along very well." HTP is ad filmmaker Vinil's maiden directorial venture in Bollywood. Besides Sidharth and Parineeti, the film also stars Adah Sharma.
