I guess he was overwhelmed at seeing Zoya looking so pretty and lovely coupled with his own messed up thoughts of not being able to keep her happy. However, those almost tears did give a very real feel to the scene.

Oh yea, totally agree..Karan is definitely one of the best actors out there..he's gifted..super talented..he does Asad so well! I loved the scene!!! He wasn't like crying..it was just perfect amount of years..I mean..he did tear us at Walima function too but this time it looked like that tear drop will roll down his cheek any minute..I can watch that scene over and over again..very well done!
