SRGMP Forum Music Contest - Special Audition Round

Attention everybody.

In the SRGMP Forum singing contest, a special selection round will be held to select the most suitable participant to fill in the #1 slot of the Alaap Gharana which is presently vacant due to the inability of the selected member to take part in the contest.

For a quick recap on the happenings so far – 16 finalists were selected out of the 25 responses that was received in the audition round and these 16 were assigned by the judges to the four gharanas named Jhankaar, Bandish, SurSangam and Alaap- each gharana getting 4 participants. The top 4 contestants were distributed one each to each gharana. However, since the declaration of the results the #1 contestant of the Alaap Gharana has failed to report to the mentor or the coordinating team to get advice for the next round within the stipulated time frame , thereby leaving a void.Due to this it was decided an audition round will be held to fill in the spot left vacant in the Alaap Gharana.

We are now going to select one participant who will be at par with the top three contestants in the other three gharanas and assign him/her to the Alaap Gharana mentored by Sahanaji(ID : punjini)

The rules for the song submission will be :

1. The participant must not be one of the contestants who has already submitted the songs for auditions at the start of this contest.

1. The contestant shall be a regular member of India-Forums

1. The participant has to sing a song of his/her choice in hindi and the song should have 1 antara and 1 mukhda and shall be submitted in the format as advised in the following thread :

HOW TO RECORD IN MP3 FORMAT and UPLOAD

1. The song shall NOT have any background music whatsoever, there should be no enhancement techniques like echo etc.

1. The song shall be submitted via PM to Barnali, latest by 14 Dec, 2006, 11 PM (IST).

1. The contestant should be a regular IF member and shall be in constant touch with the mentor when selected and shall be abreast with the contest happening through the GA topic posted here . Only really interested members may submit their songs for audition.

1. Only one contestant will be chosen and it shall be announced here on the thread.

I think even newbies shall be welcomed and told that they have to be regular hereafter.... as most of the best contestants are newbiews....

The condition of being regular member, I am a bit against it 😕

Abhi for a contest to take place and for effective communication taking place between the mentor and the contestants, the participants have to check their Pm's and emails regularly so that there is no glitch in communication. That is what regular means.taking the contest seriously.Unless u are regular, you cannot check your PM's , right? Thats what i understand here.

yes... but see Aparna gadgil, Mudit Himwan, Ashish narvekar and Raju Kabi all the top contestants are newbies..... if there were regular members who were good, they would have submitted the song for first time itself....

U can say that even if u r newbie, u hv to come here everyday and post something or like that.... but can u assure getting a perfect match out of the regulars except if u take from the last contest???

I just worked on mathemetics of the data on the first auditions and gave the opinion😃

As evident from the examples cited by you, newbies are highly welcome. A member can be a regular silent member without posting also. the number of posts decides the category whether a newbie, or a goldie or whatever.

What i understand here is that the participant is being requested to be regular hereafter so that there is good communication between the mentor and them. The very reason this special audition is being held is because of this- failure to respond or correspond effectively within a certain time frame. So i think it is very essential that the participants check their inbox as often as possible.They dont have to be addicts, but regular enough to know the latest updates on the contest. I think that is the requirement being looked into, so that members dont submit a song for the heck of it and then disappear.

from what I understand here the criteria is the participant has to be a IF member..whether newbie or a rockerz is of no significance so long they remain in the loop.

The rules say that the contestant should be a regular member, but does not say that newbies will be excluded. So there is no issue at all. Let's hope to get a contestant as good as Raju Kabi.
