U, Me Aur Hum: Epi May 3, 2013
jaise badal pani ka yaraana hai
jaise gul aur khushbu ka dostana hai
waise hi rahe hum tum, waise hi jiye hum tum
o tere mere hathon mein koi bhi pinjara na ho
ek duje par apna hak to ho, kabza na ho, har haal me
tum, tum bhi raho, main main bhi rahu, hum hum bhi rahe ho...
Communication and maintaining one's individuality are the keys to a successful marriage. A couple that can communicate and a couple that can keep their 'you, me and hum' identities separate are the ones who are most likely to have a successful marriage in the long run.
" Tum dono tho bilkul aise ladh rahe ho jaise 10 saal se shaadi shuda ho'.bilkul husband and wife jaise."
Only a doting and experienced woman like Dilshaad could have made that statement when she caught Asad and Zoya arguing in the living room. Dilshaad, very perceptive about people and relationships is absolutely right. As a married woman myself, I totally concur with what Dilshaad said today. In the real world, most couples communicate via three ways- talk, fight, or silence. While the first two ways are effective, the third one is usually a sign of a dysfunctional marriage. Aren't we happy that our favorite couple is communicating and not in silent mode?
Both Asad and Zoya are very strong personalities, two individuals with distinct identities. Perhaps, it's their distinctiveness that attracted them to each other in the first place. Of course, that does mean more arguments, more clashes and more verbal fights. Despite these differences, these two individuals have unknowingly gotten closer and have become inseparable to the point that when apart, they actually lose their identities.
When together, it's their individualities that glare at us. We see their differences and so does an outsider (eg Tanu) but what one fails to notice is the subtle 'hum' in their relationship. This is what Dilshaad has noticed and that's why she believes that they are indeed made for each other.
It's the 'hum' in their relationship that makes them put up a united front when DB confronts them, when Dilshaad questioned them about the engagement (when they got back from the airport), when they agreed to a formal engagement after Dilshaad's feigned illness and now will join in the jashne-saugat next week. The 'hum' in their relationship craves for each other's company. That's why, they find the most trivial reason to be together, to poke each other, find each other in a large gathering (Valima), dream about each other once they are alone in their bedrooms, risk their lives and principles for each other.
Our beloved couple is a bit nontraditional in the sense that most couples reach this stage of constant bickering after years of marriage. So, one can only hope that their relationship will actually progress in the reverse gear. As they continue to understand and live with each other, we will probably see a shift from bickering to more sweet nothings, from glares to smiles, from inability to look into the eye to more eye locks, from finding excuses to touch each other to finding it impossible to not touch each other.
What a wonderful journey that would be for all of us and for this couple, who are hopelessly in love but are afraid to express it? Will they ever express it in words? I doubt it. They have always been guided by their actions and that's how they shall continue to evolve into their 'you, me aur hum' relatiohship.
Precap:
- Zoya, Zoya, Zoya'why are you so foolish? It's a good thing that you have turned your brain cells on, but drawing blood from someone? Please leave it to the professionals. Imagine the wrath of your Akdu Ahmed Khan when he finds out what you have done to his tehzeeb-e-afta.
I wouldn't be worried about Asad-Tanu. Asad would never leave his museebat for the tehzeeb-e-afta. If he does, he would be signing a contract for the most dysfunctional relationship in the world.
Why didn't he call Aapi-Jiju? He is an introvert. That's it. I wouldn't take this as a negative sign. He is committed, just too bashful to admit it. As always, he wants Zoya to do the dirty work for him. Imagine after marriage, Zoya will be the one fighting with the milk man, banker and newspaper man toowhile he holds her responsible for Global warming and other perils of the world.
Even in Tanu's case, Zoya will gather all the evidence but hopefully, Asad will catch her read handed and ask her to leave his house and life forever.
My Fav scene:
Zoya teasing him in her room. SJ was just delicious in that scene 😳
