true very true .. in muslim religion ... it was like that before that a man was allowed to marry to supportless women .. but .. it is very clear in islam that .. only with the permission of the first wife a husband can marry .. ppl who marry 2nd time with out the acknowledge of the first wife and then taking the name of religion that 4 marriages are permitted .. often forgets that they will be facing GOD one day ..

ok here are the details regarding this question. ive done research on hinduism, islam, and gujuratis. in the hindu culture it is illegal to have more than one wife. in order to have a second wife the husband must divorce the first wife. he can not have 2 wifes at the same time. gujuratis follow the same... according to islam, muslims are allowed up to 4 wifes. only in the following conditions. to start with the first wife must agree to her husband having more than one wife. on top of that the husband must be equal with all of them in terms of spending time, giving them the same amount of attention, spending the same amount of money on each one, and only then Islam says yes you can have up to 4 wifes. althought the prophets had come up with this before, because during that time there were alot of women and not that many men. so in order for all the women to have some sort of suppor they came up with that number. so to wat laksmi says she wasnt wrong. in their culture and religion having a second wife is illegal.

why are you bringing religions in it

It is not legal in muslim too. It is legal by religious but not by law. Even in religion it legal in certain way but people get it wrogn these days for example if woman can not have child than man can married another women. So there is stronge reason to have second wife.

hiya! my opinion is that no one should have more than one wife or husband for that matter. In Betiyann, i hope Suryakant doesn't divorce Savitri, i don't really see the point , it's been like 20 years! Anyway, i think he will eventually leave Menka (i hope!) and so although he's got 2 wives at the moment, he really shouldn't becuase it goes against his culture but all will end good and happy. 😊
