His lip-lock with Kareena is a national debate. Shahid Kapur who debuted in Ishq-Vishk picked up bouquets for Fida and is now rocking away to the Gustakh Dil number in Dil Maange More. In a chat with IndiaFM, the oven-fresh cutie pie who is refreshingly accessible, talks about this Anant Mahadevan fun-feast that stars Soha Ali Khan, Taarzan girl Ayesha Takia and Tulip Joshi.
Not 1, not 2, but 3 gorgeous girls! Phir Bhi Dil Maange More?
(Laughs) Yeah. It's a fun film, has some great lines and puts a smile on your face.
Anant tells us that you pinched out bulk dates that wound up shoot 5 months before schedule. What is it about the film that got you so excited?
The 3 girls! But on a serious note, it has more to with the date availability. I had dates to spare, so we made the film.
A hit debut, appreciation for Fida, roaring lovelife and hordes of fans. How do you like it so far?
It was a bit shocking that all the adulation was coming into my lap. By far, it's been a very humbling experience. I feel very thankful about it.
You recently went to Jai Hind college to judge a contest. And we believe the response was tremendous...
Oh yes! I got a very warm response. It feels wonderful that there are so many people who love you and are so open about expressing it.
Satish Kaushik with whom you are working in Milenge Milenge says 'Shahid should continue with the guy-next-door' roles. Comment.
With due regards to him, I would like to say that I am here to do all kind of roles. I want to attempt different kind roles. And if I fail, I will attempt it again.
You are rocking the Gustakh Dil number in the film. Tell us about the shoot?
I had a blast shooting the number. I do a take on yesteryear heroes. So it was good fun. At the same time, I had to be careful that I don't let them down.
How is choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant to work with?
Fab! A very talented person, we had earlier worked in Fida. I have a terrific equation with her. We are more like pals.
Pick your best Bollywood dancer?
I used to like Govinda. Hrithik is among the best we have today.
Give us the plot?
The film is about Nikhil. He goes about his love life in the most sincere manner but things somehow don't work out for him. The guy is somehow caught in the weirdest situations. That more or less sums up the film.
Tell us about the girls, how is Soha to work with?
Soha never felt like a newcomer. There was a seasoned feel to her. She knew what she was doing from day one.
What about Ayesha and Tulip?
Ayesha's character is a lot of fun. I have major tiffs with her character, Shagun. As for Tulip, she really surprised me with her acting. She has come out so well in the film.
Who among the girls is the best looker & the best actress?
Nah...I won't tell you that.
What's the music like?
The music is great. It's young, peppy and very in.
