Commercial or masterpiece!

I always thought Sanjay leela bhansali will have some thing different to offer. He did that, the cast was fresh, so was the location, sets, and the camera angles too were not type casted. The start was pathbreaking in some senses.

The story was also a literary masterpiece plot.

But off late I feel it's getting commercialised. I am liking the segment though, the mills and boons kind. It's refreshing.

But the larger question is isn't it following the flavour all over on the Serial world in Indian TV. Isn't Madhu Bala, Sapne Suhane ladakpan ke, iss par ko kya Naam doon, bade ache lagte hain, Punar vivah, Pyar ka dard hai, some how all showed first a rivalry/ difference of opinion/ a forced relation, and then hero or heroine gradually coming together.

I feel the story buildup is one thing, following the trend for commercial gain is something else. First Saras and Kumud were poles apart, then they were coming together, again now they are separating, then agin they will come together. I understand the relationship needs to go through circumstances to really grow and mature, but aren't the situations in most of the serial the same.

Earlier it was time of saas bahu serials, now it had turned to love hate relations!

But with Saraswati Chandra novel in back drop, I was expecting more deeper conversations! More deeper in meaning! May be I was expecting much deeper work from Sanjay leela bhansali!

Even I do so!

But the point I was trying to bring was, leave aside whether we like this show or not, isn't it becoming a run in the mill show! Following a trend, nothing new!

I haven't seen the scenes and moment shared between Saras and Kumud elsewhere. Have you? There's no run of the mill scenes between them and the dialogues are a class apart. Just yesterday Kumud beautifully defined the man Saras is 'The poor mirch which burns from within and ends up becoming dry'. Now is that commercial or a masterpiece of a dialogue or both?

You need a correct build up to a love story like this which is later going to embark on a quite a tragic but soulful journey. These clashes Kumud and Saras have are very true to their own characters. It is a daily soap after all...and if you're showing an intense love story like this then showing the lead pair have a smooth ride would be very boring.

Commercialising it slightly does not make it any less of a masterpiece I think. Can't they work hand in hand? SLB movies are outright commercial but they have his own master streak.

I agree, that such scenes are never seen before type, but you know what, when a master like Sanjay leela bhansali does a thing the expectations are higher, even better than this.

To add on, if you had seen Chanakya serial by Dr Chandra Parakash dwivedi, it was in nineties, it was a path breaking serial, that it converted the costume drama period serials in to realistic ( Hollywood roman era ) type serials. I was expecting something of that level, that path breaking from the legend called Sanjay leela bhansali, so this for me is an average serial from the maker ( though it is far far above from what we see on TV). Trust you could get what I wanted to convey! Thanks for the reply though, being a newcomer, responses inspire.

u have a point, but still this show has its own flavor, it does give the feeling of a classical novel, i think the cvz r trying to commercialize a bit by keeping the original story intact..i hope it works for the viewers and the trps..so far i am loving the show.

Yeah, I noticed that dialogue as well, it ws dropped in so casually, just like that!

SC is almost the only soap I can enjoy on all of Indian TV, though I have tried to watch others. (I am a fan of Veera too but dont watch as regularly). In fact the saas bahu serial that comes on just before SC is so fascinating in its unwatchability if you know what I mean😛

In the case of SC, I actually record and re-watch most episodes, because they are worth watching again! Considering the drivel they have on other shows, I cannot watch them even once. Says it all, doesnt it? Q.E.D.
