Bollywood calling: Amit Tandon

After Iqbal Khan it is Amit Tandon aka Manthan in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, who is apparently planning to quit Balaji. The actor who will tie the knot soon wants to pursue his first passion, music.

Says a source in the production house, "After Indian Idol, Amit became a household name with his performance in Kyunki… But at present his track in the show is going haywire, and Amit is obviously unhappy. Since he is getting married in January, he will also be taking a month-long break. Now he wants to pursue his music and concentrate on films instead."

When contacted, Amit said, "Kyunki... is not about Manthan only. I am only one of the many characters. Besides, I want to take a one-month break for my marriage. After that, I want to devote my time solely to music. Besides, every television actor wants to be seen on the big screen some day."

But will cutting music albums leave him with enough time for a daily soap? "I am afraid not. But I am yet to have a word with Ekta on this issue," he adds. What about his character in the show? "Probably, they will show my character going out of station for some time. I will be leaving India by the end of December since my marriage is on January 6. It will be a traditional wedding, including Mata ki chowki, sangeet, mehendi etc. After my wedding, I will come to Mumbai with my wife, Ruby and start recording for the album."
