Today its World Aids Day,😊

My question is,what are we celebrating and who should celebrate?

Every 1st of December the whole world halts some of their activities to observe the world AIDS day, people all over the world wear and distribute red ribbons to display solidarity with those who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

This is quite fine and some of us who are on the forefront of battling this horrible disease of AIDS do appreciate the efforts and support others. It is the only day of the year that we have global recognition of our work, have the opportunity to remember those who have died of Aids and to show public support for those who are living with this disease.

However,we may sometimes ask ourselves silently,

1-What are we celebrating? 😕

2-Who should celebrate?😕

3-How can those who are sitting on the rights of orphans celebrate world AIDS DAY? 😕

Please leave your comments.....😊

My last world....STOP AIDS,KEEP THE PROMISE!......😊

This AIDS Day fetched me somany prizes .Wonder how???

Right from my 8th standard we used to have essay writing competitions on AIDS and its impact blah blah.... I used to make an essay and I used to send it to different competitions like school level, district level, state level.Fortunately I used to get prizes( Good Books (not on AIDS😉) in different languages.)

But I really wonder what these days are really meant for...

AIDS DAY,DIABETICS DAY,HEART DAY......

Cheers,

Anyways...

World AIDS Day - 1st December 2006

According to UNAIDS estimates, there are now 39.5 million people living with HIV, including 2.3 million children, and during 2006 some 4.3 million people became newly infected with the virus. Around half of all people who become infected with HIV do so before they are 25 and are killed by AIDS before they are 35.

Around 95% of people with HIV/AIDS live in developing nations. But HIV today is a threat to men, women and children on all continents around the world.

Started in 1988, World AIDS Day is not just about raising money, but also about increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. World AIDS Day is important in reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done

This is some info i got...These days are only celebrated to create awareness about AIDS...And i really feel bad for the people suffering from this....This is all result of Poor awareness and People not caring as to wat to do and wat not to so Main plzzz yeh guzarish karna chahoongi

Weat this red ribbon and Show ur support....Coz

Why would you celebrate September 11?😕

It's a awareness, reminding us of this deadly disease. If we can have a Women's day, a Friendship day to remember specially, why not Aids day? At least oneday in a year we would spend even if a minute thinking about it and the people suffered/suffering, as we are the sole bearer of this disease.

I can see the importance of having Aids day for school children and rural areas simply for educating about the horrible impact of the disease on humans but I don't think it does anything for the rest of us. Just like women's day or secretaries day or Friendship day. 😕

I support setting aside a day for AIDS awareness campaign. We wouldn't be discussing about it today had they not called December 1 as World AIDS day. It is as important a campaign as 'World No Tobacco Day' on May 31.

But how does it help an aids patient? They certainly need more then that.
