The entry of Toral in Balika Vadhu was dramatic.
With the capture of Ratan singh she showed us that she had the potential to be our Anandi.
As days went by we saw that .. the scenes of her and Shiv were not that apt. Specially when it came to coy scenes. She was not able to deliver the dialogues with the necessary pace/tone etc.
But then.. I saw a huge improvement
Toral Rasputra has acted in 4 other shows. Sometimes one learns certain things which become a habit when you are in the industry for a long time. Certain way of dialogue delivery but .. she was not in the care of the best. Unlike others who have been lucky to have the Balika Vadhu directors behind them to polish them, Toral ... like Sidharth was given a proper brushing.
She managed to mesmerize me with her acting and specially her courage to take up a role that is so iconic .. and that too in the middle of huge confusion, anger and feelings of betrayal.
When the room goes dark and you cannot see clearly----if someone turns on a candle, then the person not called a misfit.

Not only did she manage to connect with me ... as an integral part of AnSh but she also managed to make me feel that .. she is someone who is been here since the beginning...
Her scene with Jagya.. was a true mark of an actor. I am not praising her for the hec of it.. but seriously.. imagine the pressure she is going through... being part and LEAD of one of the most historically successful shows of Indian Television ... and a replacement... constant comparisons.. yet she manages to gracefully pull off emotions that tie her character to her past!

The reason why I wrote this post is.. many have been saying that she is a misfit or complaining that she is not good enough for this role.
But I ask: In the above pictures itself you see the necessary coy-ness of Anandi's character
and innocence as well. Her fierceness was very evident in the Ratan singh chase.. and her connection to the past was established with Jagya-Anandi scene.
Her voice modulation was an issue. I thought she ended her sentences prematurely. It would start off in a certain manner and then end with low sound...almost inaudible.
Now she has gotten a grip on that as well. I checked out her scene with chotima as that was the latest scene where she was given some dialogues in the past week then that with of Sanchi... there is no more of that low sound ending-type talk. She has one pace-one sound
DiD she improve as an actor... I def. would say that..
Does that mean she was a bad actor before? I say no. She was used to a certain type of style which became a habit by doing 4 soaps. She has to unlearn what she learnt and then adapt.
but she did it in less than one and half month! ... thats pretty fast learning.
Imagine .. what she will do in 1 year!? She will get into the skin and veins of the character of ANnadi and pour a new life into it. A successful I am sure cause Anandi's character is set out to achieve greatness now.
I have talked to the production house and they said.. they are right now focusing on settling her character a bit so that Toral can get into the skin of the character and then they are working on giving a strong story line to her. I suggested to them .. the venture into politics.
I have no doubt Balika Vadhu will come back with a bang cause honestly I have not seen such story writing and directing in any other show. It is having its lowest phase right now. For many reasons...
Replacement, Audience getting bored of the story line (its finally picking up pace), IPL etc. but never has it faltered and I personally will watch it until they call it quits.
I also want to mention something very interesting that someone wrote yesterday about the actress who plays Kanchan. They said look at her and how she is even better than Toral.
I guess..
but better in what? She looks prettier? is that it?
She looks like a teenager to me. So is that what we are looking for a 26 year old character who is played by a teenager-looking girl. Is that why we are really angry? or is it really cause Toral is a misfit due to her lack of acting skills.
If thats the case then I have to disagree cause.. may be Toral is not a teenager looking girl.. but she sure can act. Give her a hard scene and she has managed to pull it off gracefully.
Another point: If Balika Vadhu PH could find this new girl .. who kinda satisfies those who are looking for a young face.. in a short period of time.. just for a cameo role... then could they not have found a prettier face for Anandi?
Why didn't they? is it because
a) No one could take up or dare to take the challenge except Toral
b) Toral is actually Good! they do not just look at the 18-23 year period of the Anandi's character but they are looking at the other years she will play too. As a mother, and perhaps as a political leader where her character's dimensions will change??
c) Toral is good. They have not made a casting mistake even with cameo roles so how can they make a mistake with a lead???
d) Toral is actually good.
Coming to my other point: her acting skillzz:::
After her coming to the show she had couple of major scenes:
1. Ratan singh chase (passed with flying colors)
2. First attempt of saying ILU to shiv (failed in my pov)
3. Udaipur news (passed -showed clear disappointment of shiv not telling her the news beforehand)
4. Shiv -Anandi Confession (Passed-Passed-Passed with flying colors)
5. The half incomplete SR (I was like OMG this girl was able to pull the infamous twirl and kinda just giving herself in for Shiv.. that was amazing)
6.Anandi Jagya initial talks where he confesses his hidden feelings for her (passed though could have done a bit better in the voice modulation)
7. Goodbye to shiv at night wala scene (passed)
8. Royal Ignore of Jagya .. .that will remain my favorite scene FOR EVA (passed)
9. the whole mehendi to bidaai (eh. it was a repeat so I was like what ever. Boring IMHO. so did nto enjoy that whole sequence at all)
10. The beautiful Jagya-Anandi friendship recovery scene (passed again with flying colors)

11. Holi sequence (looked beautiful and passed again)
So far she has done beautifully. Counting her scenes in fingers... and I saw the graph of improvement sky rocket. I am glad that she is part of Balika Vadhu.. because a) She is hard working b) Yes even though she is not a teenager or very young looking (sigh! at such mentality) I love her enthusiasm to get every scene to the best of her ability and more.
A hard working person comes far and Toral along with Shashank, Sidharth, Sriti are very hard working. No doubt.
So firstly I thank you for your patience .. for reading this post.

Note: Please do not talk about the previous actress and current actress in the same post/thread. Its against the rule. This post is about Toral and her graph as an actor in Balika Vadhu and thats it. No offense is intended to any fan group. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. If you feel T is a misfit then you are welcome to post here with proper constructive words. No bashing please like her smile is plastic types etc.
