After Kanchi Kaul exited from the show, the latest on Ek Ladki Anjaani Si front is that the serial is going off air within a month. The show will be replaced by Sony's new show Kulvaddhu. When contacted, Misha Gautam, producer and creative director of Ek Ladki Anjaani Si, confirmed the news. "The show is going off air on December 18. The channel has decided to replace all its old shows with new ones in its endeavour to create a fresh format."
Sandiip Sikcand, Chief Creative Director of Sony said, "We are in the process of introducing new shows so that our prime time catches the attention of maximum viewers. This process of revamping our prime time is not going to happen overnight, but it has already started with Kaajjal Sabbki Aankhon Mein Basi. Kulvaddhu is the second one. "
Is the show also being discontinued as it is doing badly after Kanchi's exit? "With Sai's entry the show is doing well. People have liked Sai in the show, as is evident in message boards and television forums. In fact, Ek Ladki… has the highest TRP when compared to other shows on Sony. But if you compare it to shows on other channels, the TRP is not up to the mark. Hence, Sony wants to revamp its slot by introducing new shows," Misha added.
Sandiip agreed, "We want to end the programme while the going is good. Moreover, it's better to let the story have a logical conclusion rather than make it drag endlessly."
Didn't they ask for an extension of Ek Ladki…?
"Obviously, I am hurt. But, if we would have asked for an extension, it would have to be in another time slot. Instead, the channel has offered us another show," Misha said.
the 8pm slot has new show kajjal...now the 8:30 will have kala-kaddu 😉
