Chapter 38 Part A
"For how long Riya? And now I already know where you are staying!" Arjun said with a smile watching Riya ran away again from him.
He decided to stop this hide and seek game. He was getting a bit bored of this now. And he was determined to talk with Riya. He got into his SUV and went to the convent. He was going to meet the matron there, when he was small and whenever he came to this beach house, he was a regular visitor here, he loved playing with the kids here. Even when he had grown up, he never stopped coming here or contributing things to the orphanage. It was a perfect time to go and meet the matron again.
He reached the convent in a after some time, and went to see the matron.
"Arjun, how are you? How come you are here?" the matron said after giving him a big hug.
"I came to see the kids and this month donation's as always Miss Jenny," Arjun replied back, "and also to thank you for helping someone close to me!"
The matron was confused on hearing Arjun thanked her, "What do you mean? When did I help someone you know?"
Arjun proceeded with telling her about Riya and all, of course he avoided the topic why Riya ran away from him. "We had a big misunderstanding and she came here! But she had lots of problems here, and you people helped her a lot! So thanks again Miss Jenny"
"You love her a lot nah?" the matron asked after a few minutes.
"Yep, do you think I can talk with her for a few minutes?" Arjun asked politely.
"Sure, no problem," she pressed a buzzer, and soon a clerk came inside, "Go and ask Riya to come in my office."
The matron turned towards Arjun, and both started to talk about the kids in the orphanage, and what the matron needed to ensure that these kids had a better future in life. Arjun promised to help those kids in any way he could. They were still discussing on this issue, when they heard a knock and Riya entered the office.
Riya was hiding in her room, fearing to go out and see Arjun again. Her resolve to stay away was weakening everytime she saw him. She was pondering on what to do, when someone knocked on her door and informed her that she was being called by the matron. She went to see the matron all the while thinking if she had committed any mistakes. She knocked on the matron's door and entered in. She was completely shocked on seeing the object of her restlessness sitting in the office. She stared blankly at the matron and waited for her to say something.
"Your friend has come to visit you," the matron said to Riya and then turned towards Arjun,"I'll leave you two people for some time, I have something to do in the kitchen. It was a pleasure meeting you again Arjun!" and went away to give these two some privacy.
Soon Riya and Arjun were completely alone in the office, and the matron had even closed the door on going out. Riya stood next to the door, waiting for Arjun to say something, and deciding how to run again. But Arjun was just looking at her. It had been a long time, one week, since he really looked at her. He had really missed her, and all he wanted right now was to go and take her in his arms, but he felt that Riya wouldn't like that, so he controlled himself. But he could also see some dark circles under Riya's eyes and she also appeared to have lost some weight. He couldn't prevent himself from getting slightly worried for her. All the time he was looking at her, Riya was looking almost everywhere but at him.
Finally he broke the silence and said, 'Kaisi ho Riya? You have lost weight I see?"
Riya was shocked when Arjun asked her about her health. She had thought he would scold her for running away or talk with her angrily, but here he was talking so gently and caringly with her. Her resolve started to weaken even more, she could deal with his anger, but if he continued to be so caring, it wouldn't take long for her to run in his arms.
She shook her head, and controlled her betraying heart who wanted to go in Arjun's arms, and said , "How did you find me?"
"This place is very small Riya!" Arjun replied back softly.
Riya didn't know what else to say, so she turned and said while going to open the door, "I guess there isn't much else to be said. So I'll just go!"
But before she could even touch the door's handle, she was grabbed, pulled and pinned to the door.
"Let me go? What are you doing?" Riya asked without looking in Arjun's eyes at all.
"You cant always run from me!" Arjun replied back, "and I think you forget something of yours in my house!"
He released her and took one step back, put his hand in the pockets of his jeans and removed Riya's engagement ring.
"It never was mine," Riya replied back a bit harshly, she had felt such a pain when she saw that ring in his hands. She only knew how much it had hurt her leaving that ring there.
