How do we interpret women in fashion when we see a commercial of shaving cream for men........... and having a woman model in it?😕

how such advertising is taken by Women Customers?? [No no! ... not for shaving cream😆... in general!]

Does advertising projects an unrealistic feminine form? Or... if im not so harsh😳... is this the portrayal of women.. by men... as sex objects??? The hi-fi costumes, complexion, style, etc..... wht is its effect on the society as a whole? Is it destroying our society and creating an imbalance of blindly following trends and causing insecurities? [be ultra thin, have make up all the time, short shirts

Can i take the liberty of saying that our consumer culture is "Male chauvinistic🤢 🤢 🤢 🤢"???????? Is this true?

I'll come back with my remarks.

I did find a poem quoted below.
CREDIT GOES TO CLOVER PATCH..

I saw myself on TV today.

I am the one with perfect hair-- no grey, no split ends or flyaways.
I am the one with the natural highlights-- the ones from a bottle, a spray.
I always smell baby powder fresh. Or is it petal fresh?
I am the one wearing a diaper no one can see.
I am the one wearing "wings".
I am the perfect woman-- eating only low-fat cereal.
My teeth are bleach-white, no cavities.
I floss and I brush.
No wrinkles will you find- I "fight" my age.
A blemish? Eek! No..a lotion for that.
My children are perfect, blonde with 10 fingers and toes.
My house is always clean, my furniture new.
I am the one with the perky boobs, no hips, thighs or ass.
My clothes are perfect, they match with no wrinkles.
I drink diet pop, eat diet foods, and Lean Cuisine.
I am always smiling, twirling and laughing-- preferably in a field of flowers.
EXCEPT when I am bloated and cramping-- of course there is a pill for that.
I am in charge of soft towels, fresh sheets and stain removal.
My makeup is perfect, my lipstick won't smug.
I have 20-20 vision or wear lenses, no glasses for me.
I don't sweat, I don't smell.
I have no heartburn or gas-- there are pills for that.
I have no corns, no bunions, no warts- there are pads for those.
I lost 5 pounds in 5 days- pills and liquids diets are my friends.
My skin is soft and supple.

I am the victim-- when am I the hero?
I am the comedian-- or am the butt of your jokes?
I am a lover-- or am I just a whore?
I am straight, I am white.

When am I a woman?
When am I short?
When am I fat?
When am I using a wheelchair?
When am I my age?
When am I human?
When am I me?

I saw myself on TV today.

I too wonder what these women are doing in advertisements of Men.Utter stupidity!!!

Those ladies are ready to act in those things just for money!!!

But I really wonder if any human with brain compares people in real life with those people in advertisement world. If at all they do so let us leave them to their fate.

But for these things we cannot blame only Men !!!!

Cheers,

Mythili

I take it in a very positive light. It is all about women. The man's face needs to feel soft to touch to his significant other's hands 😃 .. he needs to keep her close and impressed, hence HER.

Does advertising projects an unrealistic feminine form? Or... if im not so harsh😳... is this the portrayal of women.. by men... as sex objects???

That's what I dislike about commercials. they are so fake. I loved the commercial of DOVE last year, where they showed normal women over a size "00"!! That was a cool commercial, but din;t last much longer than few months I guess.

I don't blame MEN in particular / hold them responsible. Everyone loves to look at a well-dressed, shapely, pleasant person. Nothing wrong in that as long as they don't offend the ones that are not.

A pshychology study involved TODDLERS. They were given pictures of MODELS / ACTRESSES and COMMON women . Time that TODDLERS spent oggling at the pictures was studied. Guess what??
Even TODDLERS spent more time oggling models 😆😆😆 ! So it is just natural instinct to appreciate those looks , not a male / female perspective.

The hi-fi costumes, complexion, style, etc..... wht is its effect on the society as a whole? Is it destroying our society and creating an imbalance of blindly following trends and causing insecurities? [be ultra thin, have make up all the time, short shirts

It has its pros and cons. Some women will go the distance to pick things that make them more presentable, hence enhance their own confidence, enhance their relationship, etc.
Some women of normal size may begin to find themselves fat 🤢 and hence become bulimic / anorexic.. a strict NO NO to that one..

Can i take the liberty of saying that our consumer culture is "Male chauvinistic🤢 🤢 🤢 🤢"???????? Is this true?

I don;t blame men. At the end of the day, a common man buying those things for his gf / wife doesn;t ask the model to be size 00, or to show her curves (mostly fake when it comes to models)
they don't demand any of that which is given to them on screen. It is about the female competetion and who is willing to do what, to reach heights!

I think the OBJECT we have become is in a way our fault. We take pride in pursuing careers that demand such things. We go overboard to look good, to lose weight, to buy things like devdas choodiya, saat phere sadee and all that BS. We comment on our friends' s jewellery, make up, shoes and clothes. We have stopped being ourselves because we won;t let ourselves be happy that way. THOSE perfect-looking sex symbols / models are OUR creation - men + women to blame.
An eg. People constantly on my case because I like a make up- free simple life style are all women! Why should I blame men, when my husband on the other hand buys me PSP games and Sharks hockey tickets instead of make up as gift?

Advertise companies make women a thing to show.
They lost respect of women and we are also responsible for all this bcoz advertisers only show that thing which poeple likes.

Maryam, very good topic 👏 also, it's so nice to see your post in DM after long time 😳 Now, coming back to topic. I personally take this as positive. I think woman appreciating men's clean shave and the smell of the aftershave is important 😆... so it's like if you wan beautiful women you need to use our shaving cream 😉😆

I have seen men in lux and some Himani lotion or some feminine product advertisement. Thus i will not be so harsh to use world "male Chauvinist" as whole. However, I saw some promo for dhoom otherday and I think sometimes the ONLY reason these women (yes, be it Ash) are in the movie or commercial ad. is due to their body so i think i agree with you to an extend that wearing skimpy clothes and having these girls...are lot of times just for cheap skin show
