Not really. Women are the beautiful of the two genders and lets face it every one wants to look beautiful and look at beautiful people as MQT mentioned in the toddlers study. Since when being object of desire become synonymous with male chauvinist?

How do we interpret women in fashion when we see a commercial of shaving cream for men........... and having a woman model in it?😕

The commercial is directed towards men and from marketing pov who would you rather use?.

However, I saw some promo for dhoom otherday and I think sometimes the ONLY reason these women (yes, be it Ash) are in the movie or commercial ad. is due to their body so i think i agree with you to an extend that wearing skimpy clothes and having these girls...are lot of times just for cheap skin show

Let's not forget Hrithik, he looked yum!!!!😉 I saw Dhoom2 and actualy all three (Bips, Ash and Hrithik) looked stunning..... unreal but good eye candy.. Abhishek however (sorry Minnie) looked bloated, bored and just not interesting even though I think he is better actor. Why didn't the producer require him to have a great body too.

i won't blame men for this. why r women willing to act in these adverts for money? why do they accept the offers? its not the men's fault. no one is forcing them to go n do them. they r willing to do it.

This thread is mainly abt the "Impact" and "Perceptions" of advertising...focusing on its negativities taking an example of shaving cream ad to clarify the point of debate!

Let me get this thing clear, the Image of a "Woman" portrayed in ads is sure "Desirable" by both versions of human race, but how "Realistic it is?" this is my question. Does this unrealistic image of woman creates imbalances in the society merely perceiving them as sex objects?

Sure ... advertising featuring Women is inevitable... but HOW it is PERCEIVED by others? I know that market demands, consumer preferences all play key role in all of this cycle. And i know that they aren't forced to do such modelling, but wht if the WHOLE consumer CULTURE is like that? [not to forget the double standards of body image ...Fat men acceptable.. Fat women not! .. and this Six-pack abs concept in men is introduced not so long ago.. but the female body image calculation was prevalent since loooong 😕 ) Is this right .. or not ... is my specific question!

i found an article at a website.. i think it will clear my purpose of bringing this topic at DM 😊

"Although a large majority of women are displeased with their bodies, many women and girls experience extreme body image difficulties that can be part of more complicated problems. These extreme body image disturbances include body dysmorphic disorder, eating disorders and severe depression.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder:
This is a disorder of "imagined ugliness." What individuals with this disorder see in the mirror is a grossly distorted view of what they actually look like. Often, these individuals will spend hours examining, attempting to conceal, or obsessing over their perceived flaws. Some people actually spend thousands of dollars on plastic surgery in an attempt to improve their bodies.

Anorexia Nervosa:
This disorder is characterized by an extreme fear of gaining weight and these individuals actually perceive their bodies as larger or "fat" even though they are grossly underweight.

Bulimia Nervosa:
Individuals with this disorder are also very dissatisfied with their bodies and have extreme concern with body weight and shape.

Depression:
In many instances, individuals with depression often have a distorted view of themselves and believe they are less attractive than they really are.

Since negative body image is a prevalent problem for many women and girls and can also be a component of many serious disorders, it is critical that women learn to change their body image towards a healthy and positive view of self. "

😆How do we interpret women in fashion when we see a commercial of shaving cream for men........... and having a woman model in it?😕

Yes i have seen such stupid stupid stupid advertisements and seriously They more than hilarious I mean a girl in a shaving cream add...or a girl in men's wear add..i mean it isnt ediotic..ek girl men's add main kyya kar rahi hai yaar..is she mad or wat😆 😆

how such advertising is taken by Women Customers?? [No no! ... not for shaving cream😆... in general!]...

Shayad ahhh kehna mushkil hai pata nahi

Does advertising projects an unrealistic feminine form? Or... if im not so harsh😳... is this the portrayal of women.. by men... as sex objects??? The hi-fi costumes, complexion, style, etc..... wht is its effect on the society as a whole? Is it destroying our society and creating an imbalance of blindly following trends and causing insecurities? [be ultra thin, have make up all the time, short shirts

This is apsouletely wrong..it can be understood if the advertisement is for Skirts some make-up items or something like that but these days in advertisements those odours and all even men's styling gels girlies are there with those no cloth elements and creating stupid scenes damn it is by every means creating a bit imabalance over the youth....We have more to this the girls in men's wear add...Mostly they pressurise on Sex objects ..there's an add of Indica or whateva i dont knoe there r these 4-5 girls in the song Who'd like to get naughty does it make sense,.i mean yaar gaadi ki advertisement hai and this song woh mainly apni sex-appeal par concentrate karte hue they r forgetting about the object they r advetising for...Isnt this Foolish!!!

😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

Can i take the liberty of saying that our consumer culture is "Male chauvinistic🤢 🤢 🤢 🤢"???????? Is this true?
