Short Story:Best Part of Me
Chapter I
Waking up earlier than 5:00 am wasn't her daily routine. Yet Madhu was up around 2:00 am holding one hand on her head and sulking down her own saliva due to thirst.
'Hey Bhagwaan, kal raat Jug refill karna bhool gayi' 'Omg, I forgot to refill the jug last night' she said out loud with a slight frown.
Her eyes were teary yet she tippy toed to the kitchen so that no one wakes up cause of her. But on her way back, 'Sultan' Madhu exclaimed slowly as she noticed a dim light in the common room, with very faint music playing.
'It can only be Sultan at such hour' thought Madhu.
She continued her slow pace towards Sultan. She saw him 'Tum yaha kya kar rahi ho?' 'What are you doing here' Questioned Sultan without raising his eye lids.
Madhu raised her eyebrow and said 'Mai tumse bhi yahi puchna chahti hoon' 'I wanted to ask the same question' with an attitude.
Sultan immediately closed the lid of his laptop and stood up 'Tumhe saval karne ka haq nahi diya hai maine,(I haven't given you the right to question me) I hope you get that' in saying so Sultan stormed off leaving Madhu stunned.

After a while of twisting and turning on the bed Madhu bounced off her bed like a spring a few minutes before her alarm went off.
Her eyes were red, yet she rubbed it more due to stinging pain.
Soon she freshened herself up before she could start with her first chore i.e. waking Aryan up by 5:30 am

Madhu's footsteps stopped a little before Sultan's bedroom door.
She waited and thought, 'Maybe he's on his way out for his routine'
'That means he'll be here any minute' Madhu mummered as she walked just outside of Sultan's door with her fingers entangling in tension.
'Sultan' Madhu gasped as she tried to catch him with her breath.
Sultan heard her and walked to the lounge, he stood the sofa 'Haan bolo, now what happened' he questioned.
'Ummm...Aryan's sick' she replied softly
'So what, he has to get up and follow his daily routine'
'But he has cough and cold I mean kitna hard hoga uske liye' Madhu tried justifying why.
'Hard? If he struggles today, tomorrow he will have a better health and future' Sultan said with disbelief.
'Lekin..'
'There's no but's and Lekin'
'Sultan please listen to me'
'Miss Madhubala, for you're kind information I'm a Don.. 'The Don' he roared in anger.
Madhu clenched her kurti tightly with her eyes slowly forming some tears.
'Miss Fragile! Stay away from me and my son I don't need you're advise whatsoever! You Understand' Sultan once again roared.
Kaka fastened his walk and interrupted 'Sultan..' in a mere second Sultan raised his hand signalling Kaka to shut his face.
Madhu controlled her anger just for Aryan's sake.
But soon she busted out with words 'Sultan 'The so called Don' I'm not you're Personal Assistant, that you could ask me to understand'
'I'm here to take care of Aryan until you start treating him like a child. I won't let you spoil his childhood. Moreover I am' soon she was interrupted.
'Who are you to tell me if he's a Child or an Adult' questioned Sultan.
'No-one absolutely no-one' Madhu took a silent deep breath as she continued 'But since I'm taking care of Aryan, it is my duty to inform you how to treat you're kid. Do you understand?' She completed with a slight smirk and a raised eyebrow.
But before Sultan could say another word she stormed off to her room murmuring under her breath.
Sultan gave a short death look as he thumped on the sofa to Kaka before he continued to stare at Madhu's retreating back.
-Flashback-
'Madhubala, mujhe jana hi hoga' (I have to go) informed Sultan as he was about to step out of the chawl.
'Nahi Sultan, mai tumhe aise jane nahi de sakti hu' (No Sultan, I wont let you go like this) Madhu said.
'Kyu nahi' (Why not)Sultan anguished as he said.
Madhu had no answer for Sultan, though silent was her answer for that moment.
Sultan accepted her silence and said 'Agar wajah(reason) mil jaye toh bata dena, only then I'll agree on you coming along with us.' (If you find a reason..then..)
-Flashback Ended-
Kaka refreshed part of his memory from the Holi day after Bhujang had paid an ugly visit at chawl.
Where Sultan had promised Madhu to cause no more trouble for her or any members in Chawl prior to that.

Meanwhile, Madhu was sitting next to Aryan who had high temperature. She placed another wet cloth replacing the dry one from Aryan's forehead.
Soon she searched and searched for stronger medicines for Aryan. But nothing could be found in the new house.
Madhu murmured to herself about Sultan and her argument with him. Slowly a faint voice interrupted her chain of thoughts 'Madhooo' called out the little daddy's hero Aryan.
Aryan felt weak yet he sat upright, his drowsy gaze fell on the digital clock. 'Madhooo mujhe uthaya kyu nahi tumne, Sultan gussa hai na' (Madhoo, why didn't you wake me up? Sultan's upset and angry right?) Aryan questioned sweetly.
'Nahin little prince, Sultan gussa nahi hai tumse' (No, Sultan's not angry or upset by you) Madhu walked as she replied to him and ruffled his hair.
'Matlab voh tumse gussa hai' (So you mean he's angry+ upset with you?)
'Smart prince' Madhu complimented as she hugged him side ways.
Sultan walked into Aryan's room, interrupting the duo.
Madhu bounced off the bed, whereas Aryan moved at the end of the bed to get his support shoe.
Madhu looked everywhere, except at Sultan. That irritated him, 'Look don't give me that attitude of your's' Sultan said looking straight at Madhu.
'It's not attitude ok, You know the reason I'm staying here' Madhu paused as she helped Aryan with his shoe buckle.
'I do, and I don't want to hear your Reasons all over again, whatever it is Aryan is my child' Sultan reminded her.
Madhu was too pissed to reply to Sultan, while Sultan was upset with everything Madhu did around his house. Shortly both of them walked in the opposite directions!!
