Part three
Nilesh was physically out of Viren and Jeevika life, what happened to his marriage... Well that is insignificant in this case. Jeevika's past and her unspoken lie had created havoc in their marital lives. Sitting in his office at work, shuffling papers from left to right, Viren thought about what Jeevika had told him the night before. He thought about the last six years of his life with Jeevika. Every moment that they spend together. Everything he said and through since, he had found out, the unkind words that had left his lips.
"Then why don't you leave!"
"You broke your vows once, who's stopping you from breaking them again."
He closed the lip of his laptop and piled up his paper before heading home for the evening. As he entered his bedroom, Jeevika sat on their bed, reading something, he didn't know what it was this week. Slightly giving a smile he dropped his things and heading to the bathroom. Jeevika peered towards him as he left, thinking something was slightly off, she shrugged it off and went back to her book.
Viren began fiddling with the blanket moving it from one side to another, confusing Jeevika further. He collapsed onto the bed, making the whole bed jolt. Her eyes could burn in the way she was looking at him. He opened his hand and presented a small simple box to Jeevika.
Hesitantly, Jeevika slowly took the box from Viren's hand. There was a white ribbon tied around it, which she carefully pulled one side to unravel the bow. As she peered into the contents of the box, she could him to giggle. There sat an mini bottle (airplane size) of Vodka. Jeevika and Viren had first met in a pub through some friends. That night, they pretty much kept to their shots, both of them had got completely drunk that night, but that evening after they left the pub, Viren had brought her a small bottle of Vodka, as she was the only one who was able to down all the without a single hurl. Now everything he would do something wrong of stupid, he would often bring a small bottle of Vodka to symbolise this first mistake, taking Jeevika on in a drinking match.
She placed the bottle down beside bed. Before she even said a word,
"Jeevika, I'm sorry for everything I said. I was angry, but that's not really an excuse. I should have listened to you to begin with rather holding onto some anger that I didn't have a reason for – as I never knew the reason till now."
He reached over and grabbed the Vodka bottle, twisting around in his hands. "I was thinking of making a grand apology, but then I thought of this." Cupping the bottle in his hand. "My first mistake, thinking that I could take you on. It took me a while to realise my mistake in both situations."
She popped down her book and twisted towards him; he took his hands and slowly, kissed him on the check, not before gradually sliding the bottle from his hands.
It's much of an ending but I thought it would give it a sense of closure on the OS. Please excuse the grammatical error or if the ending is not really what is expected or overly brief.
