Most of the shadows of this life are created by standing in our own sunshine.
Aakash Scindia brings a boisterous and disruptive Holi into Scindia mansion by deliberately mixing unholiness in the colorful ambiance and stirring up a murky chaos. He does all that is unbecoming of a Scindia: drinks, puts on loud, raunchy music, and even teams up with his friends to tease the women (including a daughter-like-niece) of the family. Family????? Does family only mean the name "Scindia"? Then why does Aakash "Scindia" feel bad when he sees his father and three brothers bonding together? Does he wish to be there...be the fourth son? He may not realize it but he wants to be part of that inner circle, but has no clue how to get the entry ticket. So he does what he knows is a sure way of getting the family to acknowledge his existence...be the evil life taught him to be...be himself. His main aim is to be noticed through infamy...by attracting the family's attention through acts that disgust them. And he does. They notice him, yes...but then they ignore him too. This causes more angst in him. Aakash's life has become so devoid of colors and his heart is so blackened that even when the kids' innocent prank perforce puts colors in him...literally, he spits the colors out. He just cannot recognize the colors, just as he cannot recognize that what he wants is right there in front of him.
Aakash's turning black is complete now...He can't stoop further than he already has. His cup of sin is overflowing and each deed now is simply slipping away to more malicious wickedness. When a man, howsoever evil there is in him, stoops to the level of degrading a woman, then he reaches a point of no return...almost. Ravan in Ramayan and Duryodhan in Mahabharat are examples that come to mind. Having said that, one has to question whether he wasn't irreversible a few weeks back if only his father had shown more benevolence and more acceptance...if only his Radhama had not turned her back to him...if only his Gayatrima was alive. The very parents who passed on all their holy traits to Yash are also responsible for creating the rakshash that Aakash is now. If one has to take a name as to how to respect a woman, it is Yash...Aakash became a complete foil to even that trait today. Yet, this is the man who in his own way loves and respects Radha. Even today, he got beaten to unconsciousness by her, but didn't raise a finger against her...when not so long ago, he didn't think twice about pushing a pregnant Aarti away when she tried to whip him. Does this mean all is not yet lost? That he can still be returned back if some honesty of purpose is shown? By his father maybe?
Suraj Pratap and Radha faced the repercussions of their acts of abandonment today. Today SP had his own dark side attack him, after he had walled in his good side...his good son, Yash. He had sired two sons, simultaneously, who took birth a day from each other. One was embraced and always was safe in the knowledge of love, whether thirty years back or now...whereas the other was kidnapped in the past and was abandoned on his return after thirty years. A father's love and his good side resulted in Yash...However, we have seen Yash's dark side also, an apparent inheritance from his father. But Yash never let that darkness overpower him so much that he would turn evil. Yash's immediate family circle saved him from toppling over into the dark abyss. Who was there to save Aakash? With no proper guidance, he let his dark side empower him completely. Today there is not even a faint line between what is right and what is wrong. Under the circumstances, the slaps of SP came too late...because even then the slaps were not from a father but from an insulted man. I didn't see a son pick up a stick against his father...I saw a fallen man doing that against another man who is fallen in his eyes. That was a fight between two men, and not father and son. When Radha started beating him, that's when I saw a mother raise a hand and her son absorbing her anger without retaliation. *Sigh* That one act shows he is not all gone...if only the egotistical parents realize that!!!
If anyone has to be faulted in this mess, then it is Radha. She picked up that stick many years too late. But then, again, I don't blame her completely. Aakash was never hers to begin with. In all probabilities, that particular knowledge kept her from sternly disciplining Aakash...that she didn't have a right to be overly harsh with him. Her stand became apparent when we saw Gayatri taking over as Aakash's mother. Once that happened, Radha retreated. She felt she didn't have the rights anymore to exercise her rights as a mother. After Gayatri's death, she had a choice...but, again, by then Aakash was too deep in greed and didn't show any need for her. She too reveled in the new-found respect and a family, something that she craved all her life, so probably became a little selfish, taking her eyes off Aakash.
Ishita has this corner in her head where she, her Yashji, and their half-done marriage reside. She is playing these one-sided coquettish lovers' games with Yash, with his participation in her head only. If only she had seen that dumbstuck "What the" look between Yash and Aarti when she went "Oho, I tripped"!! One of these days she is going to really trip and fall real hard...
I loved the little trio today. Ansh is such a little Yash and Palak/Payal the little Aartis. They too have picked up the baton to keep "bad" things away from their chachu!! With their parents taking their steps back where Aakash is concerned, they seem to be filling in. Way to go, kiddos!!!
That's it folks. I am looking forward to how SP comes around to favor this PV. However, I have a request CVs...please, no more lovey-dovey side glances between the two. Aakash is right when he says Gayatrima is not even gone a month and these two are getting together. Did that remark bring out the sleeping guilt in SP...enough to anger him so much? I guess it did...
Have a great week.π
