Chapter 1

"Damn it!!!", he cursed as the traffic police directed him Towards an alternative road path because there was some construction going on. He glanced at the pouring rain on his windshield. "What the! How can these people be working in the rain? Who are these retards fooling? Dammit...", he said while steering his car into the alternative road.

As he drove down the almost deserted one way street, he finally spotted a van that he could see from a distant corner through the curvy road. "What the!", he swore at the idocracy of the van to not abide traffic rules! But what stunned him more than anything was that the van's door opened and a petite figure with long black hair was thrown onto the corner of the road, while the van's door closed.

And within the blink of the eye, the van disappeared leaving the figure lying on the ground. Arnav's eyes widened and his nostrils flared. He immediately Speeded up to the girl and screeched to a stop. He got out of the car and rushed to her.

She was lying on her stomach when he moved and that's when he realized she was unconscious. He turned her around and saw a pale face adorning the most intriguing features he had ever seen before.For a moment, he forgot everything, the drenching rain, the van, the girl's condition, his need to Rush back home for a videoconference... And when he snapped back, a jolt of uneasiness coursed him.

"Excuse me, can you hear me", he said tapping her cheek trying to wake her up. But she didn't respond. He checked her pulse and was relieved to see it was still bleeding. But she didn't look well. Her hands were icy cold, lips morbid white and her body was burning. His heart started to beat furiously, as his temper started to rise.He sprang her up in his arms immediately and placed her in the passenger seat.

He got in the driver's seat and drove as fast as he could to the nearest hospital. As he lifted her onto the stretcher, he saw that she was clutching onto some papers that wee half drenched. He pried then away from her death grip and put them into his pocket.her well being was more important now.

He saw her getting wheeled into the ER unit and his heart pricked. The girl looked so vulnerable as she lied down on the stretcher. A doctor saw the grave look on Arnav's eyes and came back.

"Don't worry young man! Nothing will happen to your wife", she walked off before giving him an encouraging smile.

Wife? Arnav frowned. He didn't even know the girl. He wasn't even related to her. Heck why was he getting worried for someone else? He was ASR! He didn't feel! Just because a girl's condition made him feel bad didn't mean he was going to let circumstances rule his emotions again.

His hard exterior started to reconstruct itself back. As a good citizen, he brought her to the hospital, that is all there should be in terms of his involvement his head told him. But he couldn't get himself to move even an inch. He decided he would wait till she was conscious, so he went to pay the bill for her treatment.

"Sir what's the name of the patient", the receptionist asked. Arnav frowned, he did not know her name at all. He shouldn't think of leaving her, she was pushed out of a van, who knows who those people were, he should at least inform her people before he leaves. He thought. And the receptionist had already called three times already.

"Sir", she called impatiently when he hadn't responded to her. He just handed out a credit card. She looks at the name on the card and types up Mrs Raizada on the system before finishing the transaction. Arnav studded the receipt in his pocket and started to walked when he felt it slightly damp. That's when he realized he had those papers she was holding onto as if her life depended on it.

He quickly took those papers and unfolded them.

They were legal documents

One was a transfer of property from Khushi Gupta to and he couldn't read the name properly as it was half damp, but the name looked like it had R and T in it.

The second was a divorce paper.

Between Khushi Gupta and Raj Tiwari.It was signed by both parties. The girl's however was a thumb print.

And it was legalized and dated on January 20, 2013.

Which was today.

Chapter 2

Arnav frowned at the fact. So was the girl Khushi? Why was she carrying these documents. Her divorce was effective today so was she coming from court? The transfer of property was also dated today. No person would transfer property to the person they were breaking off from. But he couldn't read the name on the document of the property papers to be sure it was the husband. He groaned.

He dialed up a number on his phone and spoke quickly ordering his favorite personal punching bag. He quickly hung up as he saw the doctor come out and approach him.

"Is she fine?", he asked tense. He didn't realize he was holding his breath until the doctor took a deep breadth.

"Please follow me to my office", the middle aged doctor said while leading him there.

"See Mr...". "Call me Arnav", he offered when they were seated in his office. She nodded, "See Mr. Arnav, her tests and reports suggest that she had Cold Agglutinin Disease. And when you brought her in she was completely drenched, the cold weather had probably brought in an attack", she said.

Arnav frowned, "What is this disease? Is it life threatening?"

"Oh no Mr. Arnav. Though it isn't life threatening, it is a very rare blood disorder. The cold weather induces the red blood cells to attack her own body. Kind of life an autoimmune disorder. The good part is that her anemia is very mild, hence she does not need to be on vigorous medications. But her blood pressure is extremely low and the anemia has been affected as well. She needs to avoid mental and physical stress and eat well to get better. Right now, blood transfusions and other sedatives have been given, hence she probably won't be conscious till tomorrow. But to avoid such further attacks, I'm giving you these informative booklets as to how to prevent and deal with this disease", she said as she showed him the way out.

"thank you doctor, can I see her?", he asked. "Certainly, she has been shifted to room 201"

Arnav rushed to the room and saw her lying there on the bed, with so many machines attached to her and the IV flowing in. Though he didn't care much towards anyone other than his own family. He wasn't that big of a monster either. But right now, he was fuming with anger. And those people who were responsible for this condition.

His phone started to vibrate, so he went out of the room to avoid disturbing her.

"Sir, I had a detective on the case the minute you called and this is what he found", Aman said showing the file.

"The girl's name is Khushi Kumari Gupta. 21 years old. Originally hails from Lucknow. She was adopted at the age of 6 by Garima and Shashi Gupta. But unfortunately they passed away in an accident two months ago. Then the girl was married off to a person named Raj Tiwari, who is fifteen years older than her an this was his fourth marriage two weeks ago and then was moved here. But later today, they had been accepted for mutual divorce. The detective is almost 80% sure this marriage has been done against her wishes. He went around and consulted her neighbors. They say her aunt forced her into this. And then there is also the property papers to consider. The property is worth nearly 90 lakhs, which has been transferred and this was the property inherited from Khushi's birth parents. And this is a photograph of the girl", he said finishing his long monologue.

Arnav took the picture and looked at it. There was a drastic difference between the girl lying in the room behind him and the girl who was looking at him with the most beautiful smile in the photograph. He felt bad for the girl. The girl has been through so much. He thanked Aman and dismissed him.

"And one more thing Sir. Ugh the detective is a hundred percent sure but he suspects her adopted parents death and her marriage to have some kind of a connection, of you know why I'm trying to imply..."Aman said. Arnav just nodded gravely and turned away.

He went back to the room and sat on the chair next to the bed while staring at her.Granted ASR didn't have a heart. But if what he was assuming was right about that Raj Tiwari and who ever else was involved. Then he will hunt those people down and give this girl her deserved justice. And that was a promise he made to himself.
