Loved both the updates.
Only a woman can feel the feeling of losing her own baby.
The case was quite emotional.
It had a balance of every emotion.

Oh snap! How did Ajay's mother know the baby was a girl? My heart breaks for Arjun in this one. Can't wait to read more!

Final Part

"Let's go team!" Rathore said and all entered the SUV to go and catch the driver who tried to kill Mrs Mahi.

They reached the address as given by Shree, and found themselves looking at a small house, and they could even see a blue car parked in front of it on the road. They went silently to inspect the car, and could find some traces of blood on its front. They were now hundred percent sure that this car had been used to hit Mrs Mahi.

"Ok, the driver must still be in the house! Chotu go round the house and check if there's any backdoor, while me and Shree will go and knock on its front door," Rathore ordered. They waited till Chotu had gone to check round the house, and had posted himself hiding near the backdoor. After having his signal, Rathore and Shree went to knock at the door. They both waited for some time, when the door was opened by a young man.

"Can we meet Mr. Ashish Malhotra?" Rathore asked.

"Jee hain, mein hi hoon Ashish," the young man answered.

"That blue car outside, is it yours?" Shree asked, "we wanted to buy it?"

Ashish didn't realise that these two persons were police officers, and thus replied, "Yep, it's mine. How much can you give?"

Once they were sure that he was the driver, Rathore couldn't prevent himself from saying in a cold voice, "well it depends because there are blood spots on it!"

"So Ashish, where were you this morning?" Shree asked.

As soon as Ashish realised he had been tricked, and that these two could be police officers, he pushed both of them and rushed into his house to get out through the backdoor, where unfortunately Chotu was waiting for him. Both Shree and Rathore ran after him, to see that Chotu had easily caught him.

"I wonder why you criminals think that we police people are stupid?" Rathore said, and gave that Ashish a hard slap on his face.

He held Ashish tightly by collars and said, "Will you say the truth or we know how to make you people talk!"

One hour later

Arjun and Aisha were still waiting outside the door, when the rest of the team came to meet them.

"So, did you get him?" Arjun asked.

"Yes, and he was just a foolish guy, he has revealed everything! And you were right!" Rathore told Arjun.

All of them went in, and saw Mrs Mahi still sleeping from the medicines.

"Mr Mahi, we have arrested the guy who was responsible for this," Rathore said. Everyone in the team was observing the face of Ajay's mother for any lapse. And they werent disappointed, cause they could see a sudden fear in her face.

"Thanks you all, but now that this mishap has already happened, there's nothing we can do!" Ajay's mother said quickly, "It's better that we try to forget this as soon as we can!"

Even Ajay agreed to what his mother said, "I'm very happy you caught that person, but this doesn't mean that my baby will come back!"

"But Ajay don't you wanna know why and who did this?" Arjun persisted.

"No it hardly changes anything by knowing who did this! We only want to forget this traumatizing incident now," Ajay's mother butted in.

"Still Ajay, dont you as a father wanna know the truth?" Aisha said this time.

Ajay didn't understand at all why they were pushing him on this issue, so he asked finally, "Who did this?"

"Why don't you ask your mother," Aisha said looking with disgust at Ajay's mother.

"What rubbish is this? How can you blame me for something like that? Why would I kill my own granddaughter?" Ajay's mother said furiously not realising what she said.

"Mama, how did you know my baby was a girl, when we ourselves didn't know about it?" Ajay asked scared even to admit what his brain was telling him.

"Well first we have all proofs against your mother. The one to have hit your wife was Ashish Malhotra! Doesn't his name ring anything in your head?" Rathore said.

Ajay looked alternately at his mother and Rathore not believing any words due to shock.

"Yes Mr Ajay, this Ashish is noone else that your own gardener! We have just arrested him with the car, which still had some blood spots. And we also got a huge amount of money in his house! And he also confessed his crimes!" Arjun said.

Ajay couldn't believe and didn't know how to react. He couldn't digest that his mother, his own mother would do something like that. But why? Why did she do something like that? He went towards his mother and gripped her by her shoulders and shouted with anguish "Why? How could you?"

"How could your first child be a girl? Did you know that your wife was too weak, that her doctor had said she could only get one child, and any other child would prove deadly to her?" Ajay's mother said with tears in her eyes.

"But Mama, yep I knew that Arti couldn't bear more than one child, but why try to kill her?" Ajay screamed.

"I didn't try to kill her, but just make her have a miscarriage! Have you ever thought about this family! We need a heir? A son!" Ajay's mother said back crying.

"Disgusting! How could you?" Ajay said and released her mother as if he couldn't bear holding her at all.

"A girl is known as a Devi, as Laxmi. She is given different names! How can people in this age still believe that a son is everything, and that a girl should be killed even before she comes to this world?" Rathore said unable to control his feelings.

"Aaj ke din we people play with different colors, after all it's Holi, but you played directly with the color of blood, that too your own blood!" Arjun added.

"Aisha take her away, she's arrested on the charge of murder!" Rathore said.

After Ajay's mother was taken away, the whole team turned to look towards Ajay, who was completely shattered. Not only had he lost his baby, but also his mother and here his wife was passing through such a traumatic phase. He no longer knew how to deal with this now. He was sobbing as if his whole life has been destroyed. Both Shree and Chotu had tears in their eyes seeing Ajay like that, while Rathore was looking with pain at Arjun, who in turn was looking at Ajay.

Finally Arjun walked towards Ajay, put his hand on Ajay's shoulders and said, "She will need you the most when she awakens up, especially when she hears who was behind it! Get a grip on yourself and be strong!"

He then walked away out of the room and waited for the whole team in the corridor. The whole team returned back to their office in the SUV. Noone was in any mood to play Holi now, all their joy had been crushed by this case…

I know I ended on a very sad ending, and no Holi celebrations, but still Happy Holi all my lovely friends.
