Chapter 3
Thus today Arjun had left office a bit early, and went to look for Gia and Aryan. He found the apartment after some time. He got down from his SUV, and checked on which floor they lived, the 7th floor. He took the stairs, since it appeared that the lift wasn't working. Till now whatever he had seen didn't seem at all in Gia's favour. This apartment was a very bad one, the people living close to her also looked lousy, while he was climbing the stairs, he met drugged, drunk and suspicious people. Finally he reached her floor, and taking his courage he knocked on the door. He waited for some time, but nothing, so he kept on knocking till finally he heard the door being opened.
He was already very angry that his probably nephew was staying in such a place, but when he saw Gia's face, all his anger faded. He could see remnants tears in her eyes, and trails of tears on her cheek. What affected him the most was that she seemed to have lost some weight in this one week. She looked so fragile, that even a gust of strong wind may make her fall. He was busy staring at her, when he saw her try to close the door on his face. He quickly inserted his foot, to prevent her from closing him out. He gave her no choice except for her to fall backwards and let him enter her apartment.
Once he entered inside, he looked around, and was pleasantly surprised to see that the apartment was very clean, and didn't have that much of furniture. He walked till he found a chair on which he could sit down. This wasn't going to be very easy, he thought, both had started on very rocky roads, and till now he hadn't forgotten the slap he got. But for his brother's sake, he'd let that part aside. He waited for her to sit down, so that he could finally say what he wanted, but she kept standing in a far corner, very far from him, leaning on the wall for support. Finally she gathered her courage and asked him why he was here, and how he had found out her address.
Arjun had been observing her since he entered this apartment, he didn't know why but looking at her raised all his protective instincts. He shrugged those feelings away, remembering that this girl was his maybe future sister-in-law. He didn't know on whom to be angrier, Shree for having disappeared or this fragile girl looking in a scared way at her.
Riya watched him sitting down on the only chair in the living room, she had sold all her other furniture to have some money for a few more days of respite. She went to stand very far from him, she didn't know why but she was scared and feeling nervous being alone with him. Finally she asked him why he was here.
"Miss Gia, it seems that maybe that thing is Shree's son," Arjun started.
Riya was shocked when she heard Arjun calling her Gia, but soon she was so angry when Arjun referred to Aryan as that thing. So she couldn't prevent herself from glaring at him and cutting him short, "Mr Rawte, that thing, as you are calling him, is a baby, your nephew to be precise and his name is Aryan!"
Well well, despite her fragile looks she did spit fire, Arjun thought hiding back a smile. But soon he remembered why he was here, and his anger was back.
"I'm not here to discuss names of babies!" Arjun replied back.
"Then why are you here? I don't remember inviting you here at all!" Riya said back furiously.
"I didn't come here out of happiness to see you!"Arjun shouted.
"Then you can see where the door is, there's no one stopping you from getting out of here!" Riya said to him coldly.
Arjun didn't believe that this girl had again managed to insult him again. He stood up and strode angrily towards her. He didn't know what to do with this girl, she had no manners and was always insulting him. He stopped when he was merely one meter from her. All the while he was looking at her with anger.
"I don't believe this! First you dared come and see me with a baby! Then you slapped me! Now when after so many efforts, when I finally managed to find you, you are being so obnoxious and asking me to get out!" Arjun said in a stern voice. Riya couldn't do anything but lowered her eyes with a bit of guilt when she heard this.
"And mind if I make you remember, you need me, not the otherwise! I'm only here because maybe Aryan is my nephew, but that still leaves to be proved! After all god knows how many rich people you have tried to fool with your charms! And why not, looking at this apartment and the surroundings, one would be willing to do anything to get out of here!" Arjun finished with a look of disgust at her.
Riya had been feeling guilty at start, but after again being insulted, she couldn't remain quiet at all, she didn't know how and when but her hand had risen automatically to slap him. But this time Arjun had been prepared, he stopped her hand in midair and said, "Even I know how to slap and beat someone, but I don't believe in violence, especially not to a woman! But don't push your limits too far! Though I may never beat you, I can easily arrest you for this!" and threw back her hand as if he was holding something poisonous.
He was glaring at her, while Riya almost had tears in her eyes when they heard a big wail from the room near to them.
"Aryan," Riya said immediately and rushed to check out on him. She looked at Aryan screeching in the cradle, and was about to take him in her arms, when she smelled the foul odour.
"Oh my baby! It's time to change your diaper and get you clean, and then you can continue your beauty sleep," Riya said with a soft smile at Aryan. She went to bring the necessary things and immediately proceeded to wash, clean and change Aryan's diaper. Soon Aryan was smiling in her arms, and after some rocking he fell asleep. She put him back in the cradle and turned to tiptoe out of the room, when she found Arjun blocking the door. She had completely forgotten about Arjun while she had tended to Aryan. She looked nervously at Arjun and then at Aryan. She begged him with her eyes not to make any noise and go away.
Arjun had followed Riya when he heard Aryan screaming loudly. And despite wanting to go away, he had been mesmerized in staying back and watching Riya take care of Aryan. And then finally when he had seen Aryan toenail and small feet, he no longer had any doubt that Aryan was definitely his nephew. He saw Riya looking at him pleading him not to make any noise, but he couldn't prevent himself from coming inside the room and bent down to give Aryan a kiss on his forehead shocking Riya completely. He then went out of the room, signaling Riya that he'd be waiting for her outside.
Riya watched him going out of the room, and she turned to look at Aryan with shocked eyes. She couldn't believe what she just saw. Had Arjun really pecked Aryan's forehead? Or had she been dreaming completely! She had never seen such a gentle look on Arjun's face. She looked one last time at Aryan, and went out to confront Arjun again.

"Either you come with me, or I'm taking Aryan away from this place alone without you! You should be thankful that he's only two months old, and you are his mother, otherwise I would have snatched him completely from you" Arjun said to a shocked Riya.
Riya had been going to clear his doubts that she wasn't Gia, when she heard those words.
She was just too shocked to say anything, when she heard someone knocking at her door. Arjun went to open the door, and found himself looking at a very beautiful girl. That girl only spared Arjun one glance, and then ran inside shouting, "Di!" and gave Riya a big tight hug.
