Chapter 14: minds are made up for revenge

Manyta was literally fuming as she raced her car home. HOW DARE HE INSULT HER IN THAT WAY? HE WOULD PAY FOR IT DEARLY😡

She literally slammed the brakes as a truck came speeding towards her. She swore loudly. She was driving like a mad person. Vehicles moved away from her to avoid being hit by her.

"That Bl**** bas**** how dare he make fun of her, oh! She was jealous of a dog this long!! Oh!! How could she be so stupid? He did play with her thoughts, her feelings and now he would be laughing his head out. She would make sure that the smile on his face was removed for ever. He should never dare to have done such a mean joke, that too on her, his boss.

She stormed to her room as she had reached devgarh palace

Jainandini had noticed this and went to find what the matter was. She entered her room to see manyta throwing all the things on her table down, a flower vase was broken, yet her anger saw no sign of becoming less.

J: manu, what is this? Why are you so angry? Tell me na. I will help you whatever it is?

M: Nothing jiji. Leave me alone, please

Jai goes and hugs her and asks

J: manu, tell me na. you know your jiji will be upset if you don't talk to me. What is the matter,, spit it out na

M: ok jiji😕

And she narrates the whole story to jai. Jai starts laughing. It was so funny

M: jiji, now your laughing. How rude. Your sister was insulted

J: manu that was not an insult. Don't take these things seriously. Laugh it away. Come on, it's just a problem of mistaken identity. Don't make a mountain out of a mole hill manu.

M: but jiji, I need to have revenge, maybe I should complain to the police, no, that would be silly. I should frame a false case against him

J: oh ho manu. How stupid is that idea. If you want revenge I will tell you a very good idea. Don't you remember the challenge I gave you

M: yes I have not forgotten. But he

J: manu, listen you should love him

M: what? How could you jiji?

J: listen to me before jumping into conclusions ok😃

M: umm, ok I am listening

J: oh you bubble head. My innocent baby sister. See now he is without love, so he is like a stick, stiff and straight. You put some love into his heart i.e. you apply some pressure. Men like the feeling that women pay attention to them, they just love when you take care of even their tiniest need, talk to him nicely and politely, give his some surprises. In other words love him, make him feel that he is loved, when love become unbearable to the point of no return. He would have fallen so deeply for you and will obey all your wishes and take care of all your needs like one faithful DOG. Then you leave him

M: what?

J: manu, then you tell him you are not interested in this relationship, which your family will not agree to it. And if needed you could tearfully bid him farewell. And that is the time you snap him. He would be heartbroken and for the rest of his life he would be suffering as he has lost his love. See it is a much better idea than sending him to jail. There he won't be able to feel that sorrows you intend to inflict on him, so what do you say about it?

M: umm, jiji I will think over it

J: whatever is your decision remember, that you have a challenge to win

M: ok jiji

Jai left the room with a evil smile creeping on her face

Now manyta was in a dilemma- whether she wanted to take revenge on uday and make him pay dearly for his 'sense of humour' or accept jiji's solution and seduce him. In either ways he would lose and manyta would win. She was born only to win. She would go by jiji's idea

Now she had all necessary tools to bring him at her knees- her lovely face and her mouthwatering body which drove any man senseless. But she too was attracted to him. What?? She was attracted to him. No ,never it can't happen. It was simply atrocious. No, she was not attracted to him, her brain made it register it. Now she needed to set up locations for implementing her plan. She needed to hurry as time sped away

Back in her room jai looked very content. Manyta was a fool, she thought she was taking revenge on uday, but jai knew her better, the moment she started to act like loving that middle class uday, she will be trapped inside her own mind. Manyta had some hidden feelings for uday and it would resurface, then there would be no stopping her, she would start to love uday sincerely and then elope with him when jai gives her the instruction. She could even imagine how that scene would be

Manyta would come to her, her face very serious and a hidden fear in it. She would start to fidget with things. Then jai would enquire what the matter is. she would say she fell in love with uday and now she does not know what to do. Then jai would say" sis, you will never ever get a loving person like uday in your life, but ds or mom or dad won't allow you to be with him. They would try to separate them. If she wanted to save her love, then she should elope with him somewhere far away from here and jai would bid her a painful sorrow

She could think of manyta's face at that time and how she would make her dance to her tunes. The grand price of the throne of devgarh would be then only hers- maharani jainandini, she thought. The revenge of her mother would be complete only then.

Uday was ready by 9 30, he wore a blue shirt and a black jeans and was looking really handsome

B: beta, you are going to a palace, even though the yuvarani is like your sister, her father and mother are still the king and queen, you should show proper respect towards them, address them by their proper designations

U: yes baba, I know that, now stop treating me like a small kid. See I am a adult now

B: even if you are an adult or even an old man, in my eyes you are still a baby

Uday moves forward and hugs his baba

U: I know baba, I know😆

He then leaves and reaches the rajmahal on time. After going through a number of security checks, he was finally allowed to enter. A servant accompanied him to the palace.

As he entered the palace, unknown to all, avantika's fingers twitched. It was her first sort of movement in 16 years. A mother's heart can sense the presence of her child no matter what the distance between them and it too happened to avantika. A lone tear escaped from her eyes. She knew her son was really near her. It brought a sort of determination in her mind to live- for her son, for her family. Her heart beat started to accelerate.

Chap 14.1: a palace of memories

Uday walked inside the palace, a unknown feeling swept through him. He felt as if he was here before, but how? He had come to Mumbai only 3 years back, till then he was at haridwar.He did not have answers. A blurred picture of a small kid running around and a lady was running behind him , appeared before uday, the lady caught up with the small boy and gave him a kiss, saying " my cute devil" and then carried him away.

Then there was a scene where the lady was holding a small bundle in her hands and the same boy came forward and asks "mom ,she looks so tiny, but so cute, can I hold chotti"

"ok beta, but sit down and give support to her neck region and back"

She placed the baby in his hands and the small kid kisses the baby in the bundle

Uday was snapped of his thoughts when he heard unnathi give a small cough to catch his attention

Un: day dreaming eh?

U: no, chotti I was just looking around

Un: dada, you're so punctual, on time as always

U: I like it that way, your life should be disciplined in all sense

Un: so how is my home?

U: it's so beautiful; it has the elegance and a style. I would like to see the whole palace

Un: dada, before seeing the whole palace, dad is waiting for you in the study, he wants to talk to you in private

U: why unnathi?

Why would the maharaj want to see him? he was a bit worried

Un: I don't know. He said he wanted to have some man to man talk with you

U: ok then chothi, is maharaj a strict person

Un: no dada, he won't even hurt a fly, he is such a sweet person

U: then why does he want to meet me?

Un: dada,, don't act as a small kid on his first day to school, he is not gona eat you, now go

Saying this she pushes him towards the study

Uday hesitates to open the door and unnathi encourages him to go inside. He musters courage and knocks the door and then peeps inside

G: come in beta, please sit down

U: but maharaj.., he says hesitatingly

G: uday beta, please call me uncle. Maharaj sounds too formal. After all you are my daughter's 'dada'

U: ok maharaj, I mean uncle

G: sit beta

Uday sits and looks around. The same vision comes to him. the small kid was sitting on the the chair where giriraj was sitting. Then someone came forward and seeing him seated there asked

" arre, beta, what are you doing here?"

"dad, isn't this the chair you sit and rule the world, so i too want to be the ruler, so I will sit here"

"uday all this is yours, not only this chair but everything will be yours, you need to grow up before I hand it over to you"

"dad, am drinking complan, so i will become big soon, then you will give me everything?"

"yes beta, I will"

Saying this he carries the small kid in his hands swings him around

G: so uday beta

Uday was snapped from his thoughts

U: yes uncle

He was a bit disturbed as the child in his vision was called uday. He can ponder on that fact later now he needs to concentrate on his talk with maharaj

G: so tell me the truth, as a father I want to know what is happening between you and unnthi. She says you are like a brother to her, but what about you, do you feel the same way about her or do you love her?

U: uncle (shocked)I can never ever think of unnathi in that way, she is like my sister to me. Uncle I know my social status and I can never think ever in that way even if she ever feels that way to me

G: chill beta, I just asked. Uday I raised my daughter single handedly as her mother is in coma for the last 16 years. Iam very protective towards her. She is too innocent to understand the cunning world outside, there are a lot of fortune hunters out there, so I need to protect her from all such people.forgive me if my words hurted you

U: no problem maharaj, even I should not have lost my cool towards you, even I am sorry uncle

G: ok, then leave it, so what are you doing?

U: presently I am working as princess manyta's PA

G: so your qualifications?

U: I completed my MBA from MU with 96%.

G: my!! Then why did you go for a PA post, with your qualification you could reach the top. If you are interested I would give you a good job in my office.

U: uncle, I would love it, but sadly I am bound by a contract of 5 years with devgarh group of companies

And for god knows how long thought uday

G: ah! Now that's a big shame, should I speak to manyta to release you from your contract?

U: it's ok uncle I am presently happy with mu present post

G: but you should have looked for a better job there

U: uncle, my baba suffered from a cardiac arrest and needed a bypass surgery immediately, I did not have enough money for the operation. It was devgarh group who helped me with the money and gave me a job, so then beggars cannot be choosers isn't' it

He deliberately left all the drama that happened during that time.

Giriraj smiled at uday's careful talks, he was very tactful, that was one of the good points needed for a royal, he thought

Unnathi was like a small kid as she excitedly showed uday around the palace. Uday stopped at many places to see and admire architecture of the palace, unnathi kept telling him about the history of each article and that of jaigarh too and uday listened patiently drinking in all information like a sponge. It was really an interesting morning for the unknown brother and sister, they enjoyed each other's company and got along so well with each other. Even giriraj was impressed with uday

They reached the room where the royal sword of jaigarh was kept. There was an inscription in Sanskrit there telling the reader the quality of a king. Unnathi was explaining the meaning to him

Un: it means that a royal should have a heart of gold for his subjects, he must rule wisely and be a brother to his fellow citizens, a brave warrior and a good leader to lead his forces always to victory in a battle. He should rather die than see his kingdom at the mercy of another ruler, and

Uday again had the dream of that small kid; some lady, who appeared to be the boy's mother was carrying that kid in her hands and was explaining to him about the inscription

" beta, uday this is one inscription you should learn. It tells you how to be a good king . the inscription means royal should have a heart of gold for his subjects, he must rule wisely and be a brother to his fellow citizens , a brave warrior and a good leader to lead his forces always to victory in a battle. He should rather die than see his kingdom at the mercy of another ruler, and bring the head of your enemy in a plate and never let your royal blood spill,you to should be like that"

Uday unknowingly continues unnathi's sentence

Un: wow, dad how do you know about it

Uday felt uncomfortable and lied

U: I learnt Sanskrit, so I read it

Un: ah you are so clever

They then moved to a room where there were plenty of photos, moving there unnathi pulls uday towards a picture of a small kid

Un: this is my udayveer dada, when he was 4 years old, see the picture, my dad said that he refused to wear the shirt dad had brought for him because it was not bhabhi's favorite color and dad punished him and made him stand facing the wall, shirtless. Mom found it amusing and clicked the pic, see how he was showing his tongue to mom, he was so naughty

Uday was not listening to her talks. His eyes were at the scar at the boy's back. He too had a scar at the same place on his back. Unknowingly his fingers traced the scar on his back. He thought of what his baba had told him about it.

His baba had told him that it was an accident; uday was playing on top of the hill when he lost his balance and fell down, there were plenty of stones that too very sharp ones, one of them struck his back and thus the scar. He had not believed what his baba had told him, it was not logically possible, but he did not question his baba regarding this matter

The next photo of udayveer shocked the living light out of uday. It was the same boy uday was seeing in his visions, in the last photo udayveer's face was not clear. Here it was crystal clear; the small boy was smiling at the camera. So the boy he was seeing was udayveer, but why him? Why did he see such visions? Could other too see such visions? Now uday grew worried, what was wrong with him? This palace was an old one so could it be'

u: chotthi, is this palace haunted? Asked uday hiding the fear that came in his heart

un: what!! What nonsense is this?

U: no, do you see any visions of a small kid when you're here

Un: no. dada are you ok?

And she looked at uday worried

Uday quickly laughed and told that it was his idea of joke. But deep inside he was REALLY WORRIED

Then unnathi took uday to meet her mother. The room was like the ICU of an hospital, fully modernized with all necessary equipments to keep avantika alive. For the last 16 years it kept her alive, there was a electro cardiograph and a heart monitor recording her heartbeats. Usually her heart beats was just 55-57 beats per minute, but since uday had entered the palace it increased to 60 beats per minute the duty doctor and the nurse was bewildered by this sudden change, they did not know what caused it; as soon as uday entered the room her heart beat again increased to about 70 beats per minute but her other vital signs were normal.

The doctor and the nurse were discussing about this matter

Un: what is it doctor uncle, is everything ok?

Dr: yes beta, but her heart beat showed a considerable increase since morning, her other vitals remain unaffected

Un: it is something to worry dr uncle?

Dr: no beta, she is fine

Unnathi turns to uday only to see him deep in thought

A few minutes back

Uday had entered the room only to find avantika's body, still and like a dead body. However her face had a certain glow. Here uday received his second shock; the lady in his vision was lying here, in coma. Her face had aged otherwise it was just the same as before. Why was this palace haunting him, he thought, he wanted to escape this palace, but then he wanted to touch the sleeping figure, he felt some unknown connection between her and him

Un: eh, dada?

U: yes chotthi?

Un: dreaming again?

U: no, I was just..

Un: whatever, this is my mother, she is my best friend, I tell her all my secrets. But I don't even know whether she hears anything or not

Uday moves forward and takes avantika's hand in his and give it a squeeze of assurance. He does not know why he does it, but it gave him some relief, tears started to flow from her eyes as she felt her child next to her

Unathi was saying

Un: maa, this is the 'dada' I told you of

Uday unknowingly says

U: maa, don't cry I am here

Unnathi looks at uday , and then her mom, was there an unknown bond between them? Now was she mad? How could they share a bond when their meeting for the first time today? Maybe she was imagining things; maybe it was her subconscious mind who wanted to believe that this uday was her lost brother?

Chapter 14.2: a plan develops

Manyta was resting in her room. Her convo with her jiji had her think a lot. She wanted revenge; her jiji's idea was just great, so innovative.

Manyata had never known defeat and was not ready to accept it easily. So now lara fiasco was over, her misunderstandings cleared, so the only thing left was to seduce uday. It was simple a challenge and she would crack it. After all she was one desirable lady.

So first things first, she would start being good with uday. She needed to get into his good books.

M: uday your defeat is about to start

You will come begging in front of me

And then I will snap you like a piece of useless wood

The next day uday was a bit scared to go to office. He had made manyta a big fool, and he was now regretting that decision. Now his life would be even more miserable. God alone knows what she would do to make his present hell life even worse. He could not sleep last night after his visit to the palace. All the visions had upset him. But he did not tell his baba about it as he did not want him to worry about it. He was a heart patient and right from when he was small, his baba got worried whenever he said he had strange dreams, so he stopped noticing such weird dreams. Now it was time to put these problems behind him and focus on the present cause of trouble- manyta.

As he walked towards his work place, he noticed that manyta was already there. He checked his watch. It was only 8 20, but he was sure manyta would make it seem like a big problem.

With images of how his future life would be, and swallowing a lump of saliva, he entered the room

Manyata looked up and saw uday. Her blood boiled seeing him in front of him, she wanted to strangle him, but resisted that urge and put forward a fake smile and told him

M: uday , good morning, so you are early today

U: yes mam, I had to screen all your mails for you today and we have received quite a few of them

M:ok I am happy to see that you are sincere in your work, you deserve a raise for being such a hardworking person. I will give you a Rs 2500 raise.

Uday was shocked

U: thanks...Thanks so much mam

M: uday call me manyta, did not I tell you that before.

She said seductively

Uday was shocked by her behavior, he had expected his life to be miserable and now he had got a raise. He was so distracted in his work that he had forgotten to add sugar to manyata's coffee. She always drank coffee at 10 and it was uday's job to prepare it.

As manyta drank the coffee she felt to vomit. The coffee did not have sugar and tasted so bitter that she wanted to spit it on his face, that fool'.

But then she said

M: umm! Nice variety today

U: I did not get you?

M: today you made me coffee without sugar

Uday got worried, so now manyta will start a tum tum and he waited for all her accuses to fall on him

M: I like it but tomorrow please add sugar in my coffee

M: yes mam

M:manyta, call me manyta, uday. I am after all your classmate

She smiled at him and left the cabin leaving behind a bewildered uday

That afternoon as she left for lunch she asked uday to join her. By afternoon her mind was happy and she no longer was mad at uday.

M: uday join me for lunch na

U: but manyta'

M: no buts

And she dragged uday by his hand,he was embarrassed by her childish behavior. They had lunch at a 5 star restaurant . Both of them had a good time. They both genuinely loved each other's company. The time flew away. Later they returned to office. Manyta had started to fall for uday just like her jiji had predicted. But the flame of revenge was still fresh in her mind. So it was a balanced situation. She wanted to get uday alone in her office so she said

M: um, uday I think you should phone your baba that you would be late tonight; we need to draft the deal with the Mehata's tonight itself

U: yes mayata, I will call baba, or he would wait till I come back

M: ah, so you better tell him so

Manyta changed into a tight top and leggings, her neck was really deep and it really did a poor job of covering her chest. But she was not bothered by it. Only both of them were left in the office-the predator and the prey. She sat on the sofa and asked uday to sit.

As he was busy taking notes, she put her pen down purposely and looked at him, he bend down to pick it and at the same time she too bend to pick it up. Their fingers brushed each other; uday looked up only to see manyta staring at his face, an unknown feeling in her eyes

Duk, duk their heart beats raced as they shared an eye lock. The pen was forgotten. Their fingers just touched each other, feeling their softness. They remained in that position, looking into each other's eyes for god knows how long. Manyta had forgotten her revenge and was drowned in uday's chocolate brown eyes. Uday kept staring at her as if she was some precious treasure he had rediscovered. It was such a beautiful moment until

Beep beep

Manyta's phoned beeped .that broke their eye lock. And quickly both of them composed themselves. Manyta was too embarrassed and so she avoided looking into uday's eyes. Uday too felt bad and he took the pen and they returned to their work they both left the office late, avoiding each other's gaze

That night uday could not sleep. The love he had for manyta had once again resurfaced after that arvind incident. She made him feel like a teenager having his first crush. She was a bi**h but deep inside there was something so pure and innocent. It only peeped out in rare occasion and always left uday bewildered when it happened.

The next morning when uday reached his desk there was a beautiful bouquet of flowers waiting for him, he checked who had sent it and again he was bewildered, it read

Uday,

Thanks for being such a support to me, you help me draft such a good deal; I really appreciate your efficiency at work

he really did not understand her. He entered her cabin and asked her

U: err, manyta thanks so much for the flowers

M: oh!! Uday you reached here so early, you could have come after an hour after all you where here till 12 midnight

U:its ok manyta my duty time is at 8 30 so I came.

M: I really wish all our employees were as hard working as you

Uday could not help but grin hearing her words; she had actually praised his work which she was so glad to ignore all these months

That day too passed with uday and manyta spending more and more time with each other. They grew very close. This continued for 3-4 days

Manyta woke up early in the morning. She had fallen in love with uday, it was too late to retrace her path back. She too knew uday loved her, she had forgotten all about her jiji's challenge. She wanted to be uday's in all sense. First she would apologize to him and then make up with him for her bad behavior. She make the evening perfect for them later she would propose him, he was after all the best thing that happened in her life

Then she remembered uday was out for attending a business meeting and would return only in the evening,

She phoned him

M: uday , it's me after your meeting , please meet me at my private suite at my hotel

U: why manyta?

M: eh, it's a surprise.

M: uday , I miss you, come soon

U: I too miss you manyta. I hope this meeting gets over soon

Manyata was in her site dressing up, the room was full of sweet smelling flowers and glowing candles, it was really a romantic atmosphere, and then she received a call from her jiji

Uday had reached her hotel, as he was about to enter the lobby, he spotted a lady selling flowers, he went and bought a bunch of red roses for manyta . He smiled happily as he made his way to the lift.

M: ah, jiji

J: so how is your challenge going?

M: eh jiji, I wanted to tell you'..

J: I know what you're going to say, so now are you chickening out, scared that he would reject you, even scared to accept a silly challenge, how then would you be a boss if you are such a chicken

M: its not like that jiji

J: yes, you are only scared of losing, so you did not try, isn't it the truth

Uday had reached the partly opened door of manyta's suite, he was about to enter when he heard the conversation inside

M: I never said that I am chickening out, I never ever go back from a challenge, you know it

You ASKED ME TO MAKE UDAY FALL FOR ME AND I DID IT, I REALLY WON THE CHALLENGE, he has fallen for me .but

There was some network problem, and so her call got cut, she could not complete her sentence (but I too love him now jiji) uday was standing outside listening to her conversation with shock. He was angry, so her affection towards him for the last few days was a fake, everything was fake, it was a planned trick and he had fallen for it, the red roses in his hand got crushed in his anger. He threw it far away from him. He decided to confront her. He opened the door

She sat on the bed and was wearing a very transparent nightie. She looked at him in a romantic manner and got down from the bed and moved towards him. She was really pleased to see him. As she walked towards him, he gulped down the saliva that formed in his mouth seeing this delicious creature in front of him. She was simply looking heavenly. But then her thoughts were evil, he was just a CHALLENGE to her, his eyes became cold

She came forward and took his hands in hers and looked at him with love

M: uday, I really missed you, you know'.

U: yes I know, he said with a clenched jaw

Manyta noticing his mood change asked

M: what happened uday? Are you ok?

All this was too much for uday, his anger blinded him. He was being used for some stupid game of hers and so

BAMM

He slapped her hard on her face.

U: don't you ever try to use me as some toy of yours, so I am just a challenge to you eh? All this good behavior was acting, a big drama eh? No manyta not any longer, I hate you

Saying this he left her alone. Manyta touched her cheeks where he had just slapped her, hot tears flowed out. Only one feeling was left in her and it was extreme anger

"Uday sinha. You felt my love was just a drama. You rejected me, didn't you? You would pay for it, that too heavily." Thought a revengeful manyta
