Sushmita is indeed a woman of substance. I don't remember much about her Miss India days, but my mom tells me it had come as a huge surprise for everyone. No one had expected that there would be any competition for Aishwara....and it the question-answer round that decided the verdict in Sushmita's favour.
I hope I am not going off topic here, but during the Miss India round, the question asked of both Aishwariya and Sushmita had been what is one thing of the past that you would change if you could and Aishwariya had given quite a stupid reply by answering 'my birth'....
and Sushmita had answered 'the assassination of Indira Gandhi'. She had given her reasons for the same which I don't remember but it was all in all a good answer and as mentioned in the show....After Sushmita's answer in Miss Universe, people had started congratulating her mother.
To have achieved the highest beauty title at the mere age of 18-19 is an achievement in itself, but to know that she is a beauty with brains is really heartening. She is indeed a woman that is a blessing to womanhood.

And to actually fight a court case to be given right for adoption while being single is commendable 👏 👏
She is a go-getter in every sense of the word

I remember the Miss India contest. Nobody knew who Sushmita Sen was and everybody knew Aishwarya Rai. Frankly my sis who is a fashion designer made me sit and watch the competition and after the last round answer from Aishwarya.. there were many jokes on beautiful face but no brain on her and labeled stupid etc.

It was Rishi Kapoor's marks to Sushmita that she won the Miss India title. and Rishi Kapoor was quite famous for doing movies with new actresses doing the first movie. Rishi Kapoor was the only romantic hero available at some point of time....and he said he introduced Miss India and first Indian Miss Universe....
