😠Kanchi Kaul is out of the Sony daily, Ek Ladki Anjaani Si. It is learnt that her incessant demands for more money as well as her attitude has been a cause of consternation for both the channel as well as the production house, Shreya Creations.
Now, Sai Deodhar has been roped in as the new Ananya. Interestingly, Sai's husband Shakti Anand also features on the show. He plays Anu's husband, Nikhil. That makes Sai and Shakti an on-screen couple as well.

Considering Kanchi is the main protagonist of the show, the decision to oust her was taken after a great deal of deliberation by the channel and production house. It is learnt that Kanchi too had lost interest in the show and wanted to move on.
But Kanchi refuses to talk about it or defend herself. She says, "I'm out of town and cannot say anything on that front. Ask the channel. I will only speak when I'm back in Mumbai."

The channel prefers not to comment about the new development, but it is learnt that there are some contractual obligations and legal aspects that need to be worked out with Kanchi.
Ek Ladki Anjaani Si was Kanchi's small screen debut. She was earlier seen on the big screen in South films as well as in Kuku Kohli's Woh Tera Naam Tha.
Driven to decision
Nimisha Pandey, creative head, Shreya Creations, says, "It was Sony's call to replace Kanchi. It was a very tough decision to take. It is not easy to replace a protagonist after a year of being on air, so one should understand what Sony must have been driven to."
According to a source, "Kanchi not only wanted more money, but was also not popular with most people on the sets. She had developed a lot of attitude. Even though she had been given a good pay hike recently, she wasn't happy."
Nimisha further adds that they thought of several other names before zeroing in on Sai. "We wanted someone who is not yet a household name, but at the same time, a good actor. We thought of many options, then somebody suggested Sai. We looked at the graph of her career and she fit our requirements."
Meanwhile Sai is ecstatic about taking on Ek Ladki. "I am very happy to be working with Shakti again. We shared screen space last in Saara Akash. How can I forget that show?" she says (the couple fell in love on the sets of this Star Plus show).
According to Sai, Kanchi's return to the show is unlikely. "When I have become Ananya, I don't know how Kanchi can be back in the future. I think it happened because Sony wanted to do something sens- ational on the show, which is what I was told. Anyway, I'm very happy. Sony was in talks with me for a while to do some shows, and when this one came along I thought it was special," she gushes.
Sai makes her entry on November 8.
