She looked around and cringed. All she could see was misery. And a terrible feeling of loss so powerful, it could be felt in the air. Suddenly, she felt a tug at her heart.
He is here.
She turned and saw him running toward her with concern crystal clear in his eyes. She raised her arms, waiting to be engulfed by his warmth, that would protect her from the cold sinister aura around.
But he ran right past her. Engulfed someone else in his arms. A woman. And just like that, in a second, her world came crashing down on her. Both, her heart and her world broke into a million pieces. The injuries that she had been oblivious to a moment ago seemed to suddenly overpower her as h=she felt her knees give away.
She waited for the fear to come. The fear of falling. But it didn't.
Though her mind refused to believe, her heart was sure that she would not fall. That he would not let her fall. But he's in someone else's arms ! her mind protested. Yet, her heart refused to budge.
And sure enough, before complete darkness engulfed her, she heard his voice calling her name and a familiar pair of arms encircling her waist.
Zoya smiled. She was home.
