Aradhya= Shallow, vain and prejudiced?!

Hey everyone 😃

This is my first topic in this forum so please hold on to ur chappals and go easy on me 😆 So I have watched the show and these are my observations so far. 😳

The female lead wants a "handsome" prince, someone who is milky white skinned and extremely gorgeous! Just like her! 🥱

I kinda found this kind of behavior of hers irritating and extremely off-putting. I mean I can understand her loathe towards ugly people in her childhood but now when she is an educated adult, her behaviour towards brown/ugly people is extremely vain and prejudiced.
And I also don't like her usage of the word "brown" when she addresses people of that skin colour. It is highly inappropriate and racist in my opinion. It is not necessary that brown people are always ugly and less attractive than lighter skinned people.
I also thought that the Princi was justified in being angry about her highly photoshopped picture. I would be angry too if someone had photoshopped my picture for public display! It doesn't matter if the entire world thinks I look better in it!
So I don't like the character Aradhya so far. She comes off as extremely shallow, vain and prejudiced against people with dark complexion. It's not her fault totally, infact I blame her parents. They have never discouraged this behaviour, instead they encouraged it.
About Madhav, is it just me or is he better looking than his pal Rahul? He just needs to tame that wild mane and get a facial and he is good to go 😳 I just love his voice! Not the RJ Ehsaas voice, but his voice in general. Does anyone now if Ehsaas's voice is his own voice or someone elses?
Rahul, I find is a bit of a show off. 😆 The actor portraying him really needs to improve in his dialog delivery. And I really don't find him that attractive 😕 But as the saying goes, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

And about Madhav's mother, I find her a tad too strict. 😛 I mean yeah, I get it, she is a principal, but still. 😳 And I get how she is so insecure about her son, seeing him constantly get overshadowed by Rahul. But instead of always getting so hyper, she could instead focus on helping him developing his confidence for a change. 😛 Confidence in a guy is a trait I find hot. 😳
I do hope that Aradhya's character changes throughout the show and I start warming up to her. But I do like the fact that she is not a saint like the lead girls in other shows. 😆
So your thoughts? Do reply, I won't bite. 😛

I agree with you that she comes off that way, but that's precisely the reason I'm loving her characterization! The creative's chose not to make her a perfect character who loves everyone. She's very, very realistic. Yes she's immature, conceited, prejudiced, but there are so many people in the world like that. The CV's have crafted realistic character's. She's grown up spoiled by her parent's. And her heart isn't bad! She's just very childish because she's always got her way, and only ever grew up dreaming about a handsome prince charming who will come and sweep her off her feet.

Anyways, she had that opinion of "brown" people in her childhood, but when she saw Madhav she made no comment about his complexion of yet. So I don't think she openly cares anymore. If she does, she'll start to care when he reveals he's "Ehsaas" or she starts to feel for him. And I honestly can't blame her, because she grew up with a different set of beliefs and dreams.

Hey thanks for replying! 😳 😃
Hmm 🤓
I agree with you! I also think that she is still immature and is genuinely good at heart.
But but but...that doesn't justify her being vain/shallow.
@bold- That's what will most probably happen! Then she will probably realize that she has fallen for Madhav the way he is and will stop trying to change him into her prince. I am scared about Madhav's mom's reaction though. 😆
@redhighlighted- Yes, that is true. And it shouldnt be that way. Characters should be flawed, that makes them more relatable and likeable. Saintly/preaching/sacrificing female leads put me off and annoy me so much! 😵 🥱

hey, even i'm new to this forums and this is my first post too 😊...

i think, your opinion of aradhya is absoluteluly right, she's judgemental, prejudiced and shallow minded, because she equates everything good to fairness of skin. moreover this biased thought of hers has been fanned by her parents and friends too. she has never been reprimanded or taught the correct values from her childhood. i agree, that being an educated , sophisticated girl she shouldnt have such narrow thoughts, but the people around her, right from her childhood, has always mentioned that what she is thinking is right and has never corrected her, so now she thinks that she's doing the right thing, like she thought that she actually did a favour to the princi by changing her photo.

Moreover, this mindset isnt totally different from our society thinking. it actually happens that fair, good looking people stand a better chance at every aspects , like candidate selection for marriage, job, getting high marks , etc.

Inspite of these negative qualities , i am loving the character aradhya, coz its refreshingly different form the ever-sacrificing , mahan devis of TV, i was sick and tired of seeing them. and soumya is doing an outstanding job bringing life to this character.

Loving rohit too as madhav. he's a fine actor and he's portraying the dejection and under-confidence of madhav really well.

About the guy playing rahul, till now i'm not liking anything about him, neither his acting nor his dialogue delivery. but, i guess he's a new guy, so we should all give him some more time and i'm sure he'll get better.

Yes, I am also loving the fact that she is not mahaan or saintly! Those "perfect" characters in other shows get on my nerves. 🥱 I like how she is flawed, just like any other human being. But sorry I can't trust the CV's of these Indian shows. So let's see how long this lasts and hopefully they don't turn her into a saintly, self-sacrificing mahaan woman.
Yes, I know she hasn't made a comment on Madhav's complexion yet, but the way she got scared when she saw his face was a little over-dramatic. 😆 IMO.
Yes, she has indeed grown up thinking that she will get her own fairytale someday where everything is perfect. But this is where I am hoping that she matures and her character develops and sees that life is not a bed of roses and that an "ugly" guy can prove to be her prince charming.
So I am hoping that we will get to see her character developing and maturing. 😃

I trust the CVs of this show because they created shows like Diya aur Baati Hum and Punar Vivah. In both of these shows the characterization and the development of the character's has been fabulous. The flaws were once there and there still are flaws, however, their character's do strengthen with time, if you get what I mean. If the CVs continue what they've done with their other two shows then I can vouch for them. They're completely reliable and pay attention to very intricate details of character's and storyline's. Hopefully with time, you'll warm up to them and trust them too.

Hey there! 😃
Haha, you have penned down ur thoughts about Aradhya so wonderfully! 👏 I have only one word to say and it is DITTO! I totally agree with everything u said about her! I also think that her flawed character is a refreshing change in the sea of self-sacrificing and mahaan female leads. 🥱 Soumya really is portraying the character well, so kudos to her.👏
Yeah, Rohit is doing really well so far portraying the character of Manav. He's portraying the emotions associated with having a low self-esteem extremely well. 👏
@bold- That is so TRUE. This is the ethos and mentality of our society. It is extremely sad innit.
Yeah, I also think we should give the guy portraying Rahul more time. I am sure he will improve. 😃

Have watched neither of those shows so I literally have no idea about the characterizations and development of the characters in them. 😊 But I have watched other Indian shows, and they were disappointing big time in the development in their characters and had unclosed loop holes throughout. So here's to hoping this show will not disappoint. I want the CV's of this show to keep the main theme of Beauty & the Beast throughout. 😊 I really hope they will not spoil the main gist of the storyline, especially for the sake of TRPs and public demands.
