Q. According to our college poll, you're the most stylish actress today.
Wow! I believe it has got to do with Cocktail. The styling, the hair, the makeup everything about the character (Veronica) was appreciated. If people appreciate my sense of style, it's not my doing. It's Anaita Shroff Adajania's (stylist) doing. She's the person who's put my character together. So it's her victory not mine.
Q. You do have a sense of style, na?
I do. I have a strong sense of like and dislike. And Anaita works around that. So whether she's styling me for a film or for my appearances, she works around my likes. She never imposes anything on me, which I don't like.
Q. What's exciting about fashion right now?
The fact that people have started taking risks and they have started coming into their own. There was a time when people were bound by what the fashion fraternity dictated. Not anymore.
Q. How do you define your personal style?
Easy and comfortable.
Q. What's the most expensive thing in your wardrobe?
It would definitely be the Indian clothes I have from Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla.
Q. Who are your favourite designers?
Abu-Sandeep, Tarun Tahiliani, Anamika Khanna, Sabyasachi, Manish Malhotra.

Ralph Lauren and D&G
Q. What's your favourite piece of clothing?
Saree.
Q. Shoes, clothes or bags – what do you splurge on the most?
Shoes.
Q. What's the worst outfit you've ever worn?
I've not had a faux pas yet. But there were some on the ramp. Unfortunately, when you're modelling you don't have a choice regarding the clothes. I've worn some disastrous clothes. Personally, I've always dressed safe. Not because I want to play safe but because that's my style. I'm a white shirt blue jeans kind of person.
Q. What's been your favourite fashion trend?
I don't know whether it can be classified as a trend. But sarees are an all time classic trend.
Q. What's been your least favourite trend?
Crocs. They're ugly.
Q. How do you feel when you see young girls imitating your style?
I feel nice when people tell me that the Om Shanti Om look became a trend. The kurtas from Love Aaj Kal became popular. Now the Cocktail look is a hit.
Q. Do you keep up with trends?
No. I'm backward about these things.
Q. What are the essentials that one must have in the wardrobe?
A good pair of jeans or trousers. A white shirt, a black dress, a simple Indian outfit either a saree or salwar kameez, black leggings and a pair of tan shoes that go with everything. Also a tan bag and watch, which goes with all attires. But most importantly the right lingerie.
Q. What's your style advice for different types of bodies?
My style advice would be don't follow trends blindly. You may not be able to carry it off. Remember who you are. Remember the body you have and dress accordingly.
Q. Do you like accessorising your outfits?
No. I'm not an accessory person. But I do like wearing watches.
Q. Who are the people whose style you admire the most?
Audrey Hepburn. It's very much my style. Classic and simple. In India, Dia Mirza dresses really well.
Q. Among your contemporaries, who do you think is stylish?
Anushka Sharma and Sonam Kapoor. Even Kangna Ranaut.
Q. Who among the actors do you think dresses well?
Saif Ali Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar have amazing personal style.
