The Protector: Like Father…..Like Son
A while ago I had hypothesized that Rashid, who on the outside seems spineless, in reality is probably protecting his son, Asad/family by being away from him. The events of the last few episodes seem to be validating this theory. Rashid Khan, the protector, has stayed away from his family, borne the wrath of their hatred and surrendered to the demands of the Siddiquis behind a shroud of a big secret that could destroy the people whom he loves the most- Dilshaad and her kids.
Asad, who has hated his father since he was 10 years old, has tried to carve a life for himself, his mother and his sister as their sole protector and provider. As we have seen, he protects his family just like a lion defends his territory. Anyone dare cross this territory and Asad is ready to roar and claw them to pieces- our Zoya is witness to his infamous slap at one such moment.
Asad has always wanted to distance himself from his father- both physically and emotionally. Rashid is the reason behind Asad's intense need for control and overprotectiveness of his loved ones and distrust of anyone outside his inner circle. Rashid has also managed to kill his desire to fall in love, be happy and giving in his relationship with another woman. Asad doesn't want to hurt anyone intentionally and that's why has built a fortress around his heart and emotions.
Isn't it an irony that Rashid, who has created this control freak, father-hating son has acted exactly like his son would if faced in a similar situation? Rashid, the father of the lion has given up his happiness and love of his life to protect his territory, his inner circle.
Asad, who hates being compared to his father, who doesn't want to fall in love because of his father's track record, is probably going to face a similar predicament one day. He is inherently a protector and even if unintentionally, he is gradually falling in love with Zoya. Unknowingly, his inner circle has expanded to include her in his wings. One day, is he going to abandon her just to protect her?
Is Asad going to commit the same mistake his father did? Someone had said on one of my posst, Zoya is a mirror reflection of Dilshaad. Does that mean, Zoya is going to meet the same fate as Dilshaad? Will she be forced to hate Asad and live a life away from him, just because he wants to protect her?
Let's see how these stories unfold. I am afraid, the secrets as they are revealed, will create a trap for Zoya. Her only way out is going to be Asad- or Asad's sacrifice? His desire to protect her will create an angst filled love story just like his father's adhoori prem kahani….
