How can CVs justify ASAD being a MCP?

Really, now. How can the creatives justify Asad to be a MCP(male chauvinist pig)? Because, lets face it, for the past week, we haven't seen anything that tells us otherwise.

Granted he went through a hellish childhood and had to grow up really fast. This explains how he grew up to be hardened by all the pain, learnt how to hide it from others and put up a brave face (especially for is Ammi). He also grew up not believing in love because look at what "love" brought to his mother-- nothing but pain and anguish. His life has no space for love-- understood and totally justified.

But no matter what circumstances Asad went through-- there is no justification for him to grow up to be a MCP. Especially when his Ammi brought her up single-handedly, he knows what women are capable of. To top it all, they've shown Asad to have tremendous respect for his mother, in fact, it's one of his standout traits. Going by this, he should actually be more respectful towards women in general-- so much so that he wouldn't dare to comment on a women's dressing. So, IMHO, nothing, not even his tough past, justifies his MCP behavior.

I think the creatives went a stretch too far in creating contrasting characters between Asad and Zoya and went a tad bit overboard with Asad. Isn't it?

Man! I totally agree! I find this characterization totally absurd...there are a lot of other ways they could have shown Asad and Zoya's contrasting personalities...to me it's lazy thinking. they took the most obvious and easy way out...

well there are many ways to look at a situation like this. on one hand his mother brought him up so we would obviously think he should treat women as equal to him. But there is also a factor where since his father left them he felt the need to be the man of the house and protect his mother and sister. I think thats where he gets his MCP from. Also culture plays a role in this where he feels girls have a certain role in families/society. his attitude makes complete sense to me.

I thought they are portraying Asad as an orthodox person...not justifying him.

The character of Asad is obnoxious, but not very far from reality. I know a few people in real life who have the same thinking pattern as Asad's (not that it is acceptable).

I have a hunch that Asad will have to go trough hell to get back Zoya, because of his puritan mentality and actions. The current track is just a tip of the iceberg. Zoya is not paying heed to the insult because she is too eager to find out Dilshad's attacker. Once that is accomplished...she will simply walk out.

Let's wait and watch.

I think clothes and all his restrictions are just for being protective as he is the only one to do so against 3 females that too in insecure peacetime Bhopal(as being shown otherwise I don't know)...nd also zoyas understanding that fact after so much ups and down...so she respects him...yea sometime it's to much but that's against him...coz of his hiding feelings to being aangry completely justifies the situation of what he gone through...may be it's his way of interpreting his life plus all situations of fights, eveteasing justifies of him being protective nano doubt all 3 understand him anyway...yea this may lead to split between Asia...but I m sure he will change his judgemental attitude for sure after failing for Zoya ...well his ammo also wants so and his amid knows of him being Lil bit conservative and traditional which will soon change for good after intense mitwa moment...

Love you fro this post! This is exactly the point some of us have been trying to get across.Going by how his charracter was represented in the beginning and the background history given so far regarding his past, his childhoood,to whatever they are showing his character to be shaping up like...it just is not going in synch to the initial character sketch and all recent actions of aggression, violence and his male chauvinistic ways cannot be justified in any way.I just dnt see no consistency in the character,it just seems to be going all hay wire and it cnt be, that they are still experienting with the character!
