Is Consummation the only thing of a married life...Its a bond of a trust and togetherness for the entire life...Think from Anandi's POV, a girl who suffered nothng less than hell is scared, yet she is finding solace in Shiv's arm and tats the reason she hugged him twice..Which means she has started developing her feelings in her which was dead for all these years coz of her horrible past...She was never loved by her husband, she was never respected by her husband, and now when she is getting all that she is scared to lose it and hence the fear in her is stopping her from getting into the married life...

You are so true, I feel the physical intimacy takes a back seat, after some years of marriage. This is my personal view. A marriage cannot be based only on consummation, then people with kids and many years of married life would not have divorced. Say Jagya and Anandi, they had physical attraction but has it helped anyway to keep them together.
