Don Ko Dekhna Mushkil Hi Nahin, Namumkin Hai
[23 Oct 2006]

Don has proved to be a disaster at the box office. Never before a Shah Rukh Khan film got a beating like this. Inspite of the media hype, from some of the media partners, the film has bombed. Tickets were going begging on Saturday evening at all the major movie houses. At Inox, a major multiplex at Nariman Point in Mumbai, there were people who had booked in advance and were trying of offload their tickets at half price and yet could not find any takers. A girl at the multiplex said "Even if someone paid me, I would not see this film." Viewers are being seen walking out of the film during the intermission. Khalid Mohammed writes, "If someone suggests a visit to this no-brainer… don't."

Akshay Kumar is having the last laugh because everybody thought that Don would wipe out his Jaanemann. But purely on word of mouth, people have shifted their loyalties from Shah Rukh Khan to Akshay and its Jaanemann that has started picking up in the movie theatres. The fact that Don has bombed at the box office is being hushed up but the film is so unbearable that it will be impossible for the movie makers to fill up the seats, although they will start announcing that they have collected crores, knowing that the NRI audience particularly in America and UK will shell out fancy dollars and pounds on the weekends before they get the news that the film is a disaster.

To top it all Amitabh has released his Bhojpuri film in UP and Bihar thereby killing whatever little market Don would have had.

Stardust seems to be lying, all reports suggest that Jaaneman has been a disaster (it was costlier than DON), DON is doing excellent business.

It seems that SRK fans and admirers are hellbent on proving that this movie is a success. I have friends in India who have actually told me that the largest multiplex Inox mumbai is running half empty and so are the same reports pouring from other quarters. I will go by the story that the SRK and FA team are trying to hush up the matters. That is why u also have IndiaFM citing 5 reasons for watching Don. This is the same site which 5 days ago had trashed this movie. Now one can imagine what has transpired in these 5 days to make Indiafm do a 180 degree turnaround and come all out and perform a marketing campaign for the movie when they have never done the same for any other film so far. I think this movie has really tanked.

From my experience, i went to watch Jaanemann 2 days ago, virtually everyone coming out of Jaanemann were very happy and full of praises for the movie but simaltaneoulsy, viewers were also coming out of Don and to my amusement majority people were utterly dissapointed by the movie amongst whom were few of my friends who were regreting not going to watch Jaaneman with me after hearing my praises for the movie.....In fact, everyone has their own opinion because some may have liked Don and some havent but going with my friends verdict, i would probably watch Don on dvd now 😊

I just talked to my sister in India.........she was laughing like mad. It seems her sister in law forced her hubby to go watch the movie as she is a big SRK fan and it turned out to be so bad that the hubby and wife ended up fighting because the husband refused to sit through till the end.... 😆
