Last week, John Abraham started shooting for Anurag Kashyap's thriller, No Smoking. Six heroines have been shortlisted to star opposite the hunky John, and names like Kareena Kapoor, Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra are being bandied around. Except that of Bipasha Basu.

Vishal Bhardwaj and Kumar Mangat (who also produced Omkara) will produce the film. Rubbishing rumours that John will be baring all in a nude scene in the film, Mangat says, "The nude scene will be played by an 11-year-old John (a child artiste). It has nothing to do with John at a mature age."

When we quizzed him about the secrecy in revealing the actress's name who would be opposite John, Mangat says, "Wait for two days more and then we will reveal all. Tab tak keep guessing!"

Just for the record: we don't like mysteries.

Priyanka Chopra
Overheard

A bitchy star wife at the premiere of Don: "Priyanka (Chopra) is hardly there in the film. Even Boman Irani has a bigger role than her. What happens to her career now? It's shocking that after being the leading lady of the biggest hit of the year (Krrish) she hasn't got a single film offer."
Hmm.

We're sure Priyanka has been offered films. It's just that she probably hasn't signed anything yet. So Ms Piggy Chops, it's time to talk about those offers right about now. Or at least sign a biggie to put all those rumours to rest.

Embarrassed kya?

Sushma Reddy

Every actor in Don had spoken at length about his or her role in Farhan Akhtar's magnum opus. Even Arjun Rampal, who has a thankless role, spoke on the challenges of playing a limp man.

So when we saw Sushma Reddy in a three-and-a-half-second cameo (if you can call it that), it was evident why she had shied away from associating herself with the project.

A friend close to her said, "It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it role. Obviously you don't expect her to climb the roof top and talk about it!"

We believe Sushma has learnt her lesson and is visibly upset with her role in the film.

Not an item

Tanushree Dutta

Buzz is that Tanushree Dutta is doing an item song in Bhagam Bhag. But the actress says, "It's not just an item song, but a comedy track where I introduce the film."

Tanu says she is refusing item songs now. "Unless, of course, a song like a Kajra Re comes along, something that is not vulgar or provocative and will get me shows. If one does a vulgar number, people start perceiving you in that mould. Also, other producers who cast me as the lead in their films don't like it when I do item songs for others," she adds.

Wah, bhai. First Koena, and now Tanushree. What next? Rakhi Sawant refusing item numbers and demanding full-fledged roles?

Jaane ke jaane na...!

While on Sallu, his Jaan-E-Mann is rocking at the box office.

Interestingly, the next 'Jaan' to hit the big screen will be Salman's former jaan, Aishwarya Rai (Umrao Jaan).

Chalo, two weeks mein we will find out if Jaan will be as lucky for Ash as it is turning out for Sallu.

Viveik Oberoi has been feeling under the weather lately. He was scheduled to attend Akshay Kumar's private screening of Jaan-E-Mann but dropped out at the last minute. He's got a bad case of the sniffles we hear.

Get well soon, Viv, so that we can ask you if you really had the flu blues or you passed up on the film because you didn't want to see Salman Khan in action.
