'He would coolly sit and watch horror films'
MAHERAH HASHMI tells Madhurima Nandy that son EMRAAN adored Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan
Emi, as we fondly call him at home, was a good baby. But he grew up to be a little devil. He was naughty and was always up to pranks. He was just eight years old when one day he decided to fly a kite from the top of the water tank. The tank was quite high and the poor boy fell down and fainted. Finally, the watchman rushed and helped him out.
He was very fond of swimming. I remember he was six when he would climb up the higher diving board and would dive from that height. He would leave us stunned because other guys of his age were just learning to dive. He also had a passion for snooker and would play the game regularly at Otter's Club in Bandra.
I never had to scold him because he always completed his studies on time and wouldn't score less than 70 per cent in his exams. In fact, he was self-sufficient from a young age and had started modelling from the age of four. He was a very cute child and had modelled for a range of products from mosquito repellents, chocolates, cough syrup to juices.
Another unique thing about Emi was his fondness for horror films. While the other kids would be scared to death to watch those, this child would coolly sit and watch them without batting an eye-lid. He also loved watching the films of Amitabh Bachchan and simply adored Aamir Khan.
He was never fussy about food. Give him anything made of chicken and he would be happy. In fact, I would bribe him with butter chicken, dal makhni and naan, which are his favourites.
