This is the original ending of Ramesh Sippy saab's 1975 magnum-opus "Sholay", the way the movie, as per Sippy saab's vision, was suppose to end. In it, the Thakur ultimately gets his revenge on Gabbar by killing him, and is so different from the sanitized version that we have watched (or were forced to watch) over the years, the one that Sippy Saab had to put in after the censor authorities refused to pass the movie and also after his father producer-financier Sh. Gopaldas Permanand (G P) Sippy talked to the concerned authorities and persuaded his son that if he wanted his labor-of-love out in the theaters he had to make the changes authorities had asked for...I guess owing to the political climate pervalent in India at the time of its release -- circa Aug. 1975 --- when country was under Emergency rule, the powers that-be didn't want to show a former police officer taking law in his own hands...so in their infinite wisdom they dictated what the audience would ultimately get to see...although Sippy saab was quite frustrated at this obstacle and had to re-shoot a new ending, whereby Gabbar is spared his life at the hands of Thakur by the "timely" arrival of the police.
