Adi and Panku Relationship Status

So I am confused as to why today during Adi and Panku phone call they hung up after adi brings up their relationship? Can someone please explain? Adi keeps refering to their relationship and such, are they both on a mutual ground that they are more than friends or something else??

Either thet are following "Pahle Aap-- Pahle Aap" style or as a couple are they portraying Platonic Love? i.e. love from the core of your heart and stay away all the time without achieving anything ? Avantika was dead right when she "dusro ke zindagi sawar te sawar te kahin itni der na ho gaye ke tumahara aur Adi ka rista hi bigar gaye".
