Wonderful post and discussion.
It's been troubling me that CVs are portraying Anandi like she has been currently rather than as a strong, honest woman with self-belief who manages situations rather than run away so was thinking about it.
I think perhaps Anandi's issues run deeper than just Jagya's betrayal. Because of her child marriage, the poor child's dreams of a normal childhood and an education were crushed ruthlessly. Parents are who you trust the most and who are supposed to look out for your happiness. She was thrust into the role of a
bahu when she was a kid and when she ran back home, she was brought back to Jaitsar by her parents, even though she was miserable. Then, of course, the big Jagya betrayal.
Lately, even DS manipulated her to accept Shiv when she was perfectly fine making her life's objective Jaitsar's progress. DS later even tried to get her to remarry Jagya. I figure that she's not quite sure that someone she loves will not turn around on her and make her to do something that's against her wishes. I'm not blaming anyone here but just wondering about the impact of different incidents at different times in her life.
My take is that Anandi's hesitation could also arise from the fact that she might be actually falling for Shiv already but is unable to believe that this guy who is offering her the world is for real and for always. She's perhaps holding back because as long as she does not let go fully in the relationship, she can protect herself from disillusionment later. Not fair to Shiv but he signed up for this willingly and happily. Of course, the payoff will be awesome when Anandi declares her love!
I must say though that when it comes to Anandi's relationship with Jagya, I do get confused. Clearly, they were unsuited, Jagya had no respect for her and she would have become disillusioned with him, with or without Gauri. I cannot understand that given that and that she has seen different examples like Sumi, Gehna, Sugna, Champa, Phooli and Asha, she does not reflect on what a non-marriage her relationship with Jagya was. I guess the epiphany will happen as she contrasts it with what she has with Shiv...
On the other hand, CVs like to stretch eyeball-attracting tracks so the reason could also be
shipping bed death.
I hope in the future the Jagya and AnSh tracks remain separate as they can be living in the same district. Thanks to Ganga, I'm actually looking forward to the Jagya track and seeing how they will help each other.
