Here is my suggestion for Your argumentative essay:
Poetry not only influences people but can also instruct them to correct their behaviour toward others and teach basic moral values in their relations. Moreover, a poem, if so effective in conveying messages to us can even inspire us to become better and develop love, respect, humanity and appreciate life if we are on the wrong path. Take Rudyard Kipling's poem "If" for example:
"...If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!"
