Director Nasir Kazi made actress Preeti Puri sweep floors and set up props during the rehearsals of the actress's debut play, Ae Ae Ae Phasa

It was actress Preeti Puri's (Tanisha of Zee TV's Mamta) debut appearance in the play Ae Ae Ae Phasa. The actress obviously seemed very excited to share her experiences about her foray into theatre. She recalls, "Performing live on stage had been a different experience altogether. But I can never forget how Nasir fooled me during the rehearsals."
Apparently, Nasir told Preeti that since theatre producers work under budget constraints, she would not only have to set up the props during rehearsals, but would also have to sweep the floors before the others arrived. Preeti took his word for it and literally went about cleaning the floors the next day. "I did it because I didn't want to upset Nasir; I wanted to begin my theatre career well. I believed Nasir because I thought he wouldn't play a prank on me. Moreover, he said it with a straight face; and I must say, he is a good actor," says Preeti.
Preeti didn't realise that it was a prank until her co-stars informed her. "My co-actors were shocked to see me sweeping the floor the next day. It was then that they informed me about Nasir's prank," Preeti adds.
Nasir says, "It was good fun, although I never meant to embarrass her. I told her that it is a tradition for first-timers to sweep the floor. And Preeti actually believed me. I respect her for her dedication."
