what were the writers thinking?

a gun. a gun pointed at a girl's head.

This is not comedy. and in no way was this remotely romantic.

First we see asad with his hands around zoya's neck. Now a gun pointed at her head.

Neither scene was necessary. If the writers used their heads (sorry, but i am upset) they could have done both scenes very differently.

The threat of physical abuse could have been shown with even a simple act of Asad lowering his voice, leaning towards Zoya whatever. he did not have to put his hands on her neck. And the gesture could have even come out sexy (for us) and not threatening.

The gun - no no. Asad should have put the gun away and again used proximity to make his point.

There had to be another way instead of this. If we need to see the badmaash side to asad, then blackmail Zoya with her earring or something. I could not even enjoy the breakfast scene.

I dunno why but the gun didn't annoy me as much as a the neck grab. Maybe I've watched too many of 4Lion shows by now. But thinking of it now makes it seem more drastic. Especially if it was a fully loaded gun.

I think it would have been better that after she saw the gun, he should have said "yes gun blah blah" and then put it in his drawer. Then after that he could have play threatened with using his fingers as a gun and touching her cheek like he did with the gun. It would've achieved the same effect and been more obviously playful than the usage of a real gun was.

I completely understand your point of view.
But I would like to differ on this point.

Many times before Asad has raised his voice and leaned over Zoya but all these actions didn't have an impact on Zoya.Asad wanted to stop Zoya from speaking the truth badly. He just didn't know how to control and stop that girl.Holding Zoya's neck was just at an instant reaction.
He has used all his tactics before to stop Zoya.He knows that Zoya can be unstoppable. So he simply tried to scare her a bit.I won't call it a physical abuse. He didn't hurt Zoya.He simply frightened her just like the way she was doing few minutes ahead by blackmailing him.
That reaction of Asad was just a tease. He ofcourse didn't frighten Zoya with any bad intention.
Asad likes to avoid physical proximity with Zoya till possible.Today when he had a gun in his hand which is definitely a powerful weapon and holds the power to silence any powerful person.he used it.I think using gun was a much better option than using physical proximity. This shows how much decent Asad is.Asad used the gun and pointed at Zoya's cheeks simply to scare her so that she may keep her mouth shut.I don't think the gun pointing thing was so annoying..

I found the recent gun n neck track quiye interesting. For the first time Asad used his man power to tease Zoya and get things done according to him.We all know that controlling Zoya is next to impossible..Poor Asad simply teased her by using his man power. There was nothing abusive about it.

Well these are just my views..I don't intend to offend anyone.I can understand why this track is a bit annoying for many people.I can find sense in it and I hope you may also try to look at this with a positive perspective...
Take care!

Sorry, but I disagree... It's this kind of imagery that influences us into believing that a man asserting control over a woman using his strength is ok. I think both the scenes could have had sexual tension depicted in a non threatening way... And I don't think making him use a gun instead of his hands makes it a decent show... Yesterday, when he was twisting her arm and holding her neck... Wasn't there physical contact? So if physical proximity is the issue, then the previous scene should have been revolting.

Quite a few people here have some interesting suggestions on how these scenes could have been handled... I'm definitely not against showing physical tension between a man and a woman... Heck, I think it can be hot. But it must be shown responsibly... wouldn't want an impressionable guy or girl thinking this is what works with the opposite sex. Not everyone might take this scene for what it is...

I have highlighted the line I like best above.

I know everyone wants a love story between Asad and Zoya - I do too. It is the reason I am watching the show.

I know Zoya is a lot to handle but I don't want this to be the pattern of their courtship. When the tables turned today and Zoya was serving Asad, I wanted to enjoy it but I could not because there was an under current of a threat.

Ok, Zoya is not afraid? But she jumps to do Asad's bidding because she is thinking of the gun, not about super spy and finding out his secret. The flashbacks were of a gun.

How would Asad feel if some guy at college was doing that to Najma? You think he would find that romantic or beat the guy to a pulp?

I need romance, an emotional push and shove, not a gun and threats.

It pissed me off when I saw it in the Precap day before yesterday. I even made a post about it. But it wasn't that bad when I realized where this whole Bond thing is reaching. If this can get them closer or fall in love, I'm in for it! ;)

I wasn't either amused. Tried to convince myself to like the scene but couldn't.
