First, Anandi. Her current hesitation.
Dissenting from a general opinion that she ought to have responded with much more animation, as based on her conscious decision, established trust and innate goodness of her husband, found her current hesitation linear. For, a character, developed from a conservative background, may yet face bumps of certain notions even when she has resolved to move forward and active repudiation of her inhibitions. One more facet, as her etching attribute, it might have been somewhat out of a portrayal to see her rushing into fresh nuptials with out feeling dark shadows of past, while painfully, she was genuinely committed in earlier one. Even if it was abusive from other hand, it would not be easy to discard all the past so easily for someone as solemn as she- that characteristic solemnity slowing down her progress. May be easy for likes of Jagya, but not for someone as Anandi. In a way just showing contrasting fall outs for the two. While former, the flighty one, can easily discard and assume a fresh relationship, the staid one finds it difficult. But then, when the flighty one can not build anything permanent, the sincere one, when advances into a decision already made and avowed, will eventually build and forge a stronger and lasting bond. The support lies into patient acknowledgement of this difficulties by her sensitive, new partner...
On Jagya's current flight,
They gave some probable logic;
1.) on why he refuses to stay put- the pain seems to have open his eyes wide to his faults, chief being an easy lapse into a complacent comfort zone which affects a certain indolent irresponsibility into him. He realised effects of indulgences he wholeheartedly embraced in past, his weakness. Unlike Anandi, as it was more stable of the two- in addition, she went under rigorous trials in the same household, and a steel is forged. He seems to have recognised danger of his weakness. Aiming for tougher lessons in unfavourable surroundings.
2.) on discount of his family's current pain- He aims for an eventual, greater happiness for them, in presenting them a son who has actually made something substantial and tangible in world of trials and not under easy, sheltering wings of their home. He has enough hints of these expectations- at his time of confession, they were proud and conciliatory to him after a long, long gap.At his release, they were expressing opinions. Also, he recognises their pain over painful Separation from Anandi, not only a daughter now, but originally a DIL, an 'honour' of the family- and his 'contribution' in it. As he wrote, 'even if unspoken, every time you see me, the wound will pain you afresh'. Time is only heal available at the moment. And heal it may, as he hopes. There is an added advantage he can foresee, as Sarpanch and Cs of Jaitsar, they (Singhs) would far freely mingle with their adored daughter and SIL, in absence of his awkward presence. A compensatory sooth to his miss.
3.) on his wish to stay incognito, now this is a tricky one. Why could he not stay in touch, even while working away from home? Especially when ageing Dsa and grieving mother are pining for him? The only reason, as given by Cvs, that he does not want to be retraced and persuaded back to Jaitsar, is not strong enough. In real life, it may not hold. But for the moment, reconciling to their 'reel' life logic, which in itself it is not so implausible case as many other atrocious ones we are routinely subjected with in their tale.
4.) Governer's bond, as phrased in original, 'in lieu of a bond to the warfare and service of Jaitsar'...why not a more backward, more needy area? Or, what is the legal plausibility of such bond or probable release in the first place? Not worth debate...unless they are planting some offshoot. Hope, they are not.
