Song : I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.
"Thanks for coming, sweetheart. I hope u enjoyed the party! Did you like the gift Santa gave you?" Sharon asked five year old Simran, Sanjana's best friend.
"Yes, I loved it aunty. Santa is the best! But why did he go away so fast?" Simran asked, her face showing disappointment.
"Well, you know, there are sooo many children all over the world, right? So Santa has to make sure that every child gets his or her gift before the clock strikes 12." Sharon explained, smiling at the little girl.
"Ok then aunty bye." Simran smiled cutely and then went over to Sanjana and gave her a hug.
"Bye Sanjana see you tom at school!" She said, before heading out of the door, behind her driver.
Sanjana had been standing next to her mother and had heard the entire conversation between Simran and her mother. She had been a little upset that Santa had to leave so early but then again, she didn't want to deprive the other children of the chance of getting a gift from Santa. The good children, that is. The naughty children would not get a gift from Santa, her mother had told her.
But she wished her father had been there to attend the Christmas party which her mother had organised for Sanjana and her pre-school friends. Unfortunately, he had to go for a "business meeting". Poor Sanjana, she wasn't aware of the fact that her daddy had got a holiday from a work and had been at home all the while.
"It's time to go to bed sweetheart." Sharon took her daughter's hand. Sanjana looked very similar to Sharon. She had silky, thick hair like her, beautiful dark brown eyes and a glowing complexion. All their relatives call her 'Little Sharon'. Her nose was like her father's though. And she had inherited his intelligence and sharp memory.
"But I have to open my gift first Mommy!" Sanjana whined. "You didn't let me open it along with my friends."
Sharon wished Sanjana would call her "Ma" or "Mama" and not "Mommy". But then again, since they were living in the USA she couldn't expect her to call her something else.
"That's because I didn't want Sanju's friends to feel jealous on seeing Sanju's gift! Now, Sanju has been such a good girl! So Santa will obviously give her a better gift na?" Sharon said, picking her daughter up.
Sanjana nodded happily.
She carried her to her room and placed her on the bed.
Sanjana tore open her gift. She gasped, seeing the contents of the box
It was the Barbie doll she had been wanting since days. Both Sharon and Swayam had been too busy with work to take out time to buy it for her. But they had decided they would have to give it to her for Christmas. So Swayam had taken the time out to buy her the gift.
"It's the Fairyland Princess Sara Barbie Doll!!" Sanjana jumped up and down in excitement, screaming happily.
Sharon hugged her pretty little daughter tightly. "And tomorrow, Daddy and I will take you to Ice-Cream Magic!"
"Yayy!!" Sanjana said in her cute little babyish voice.
Sharon felt guilty about neglecting her daughter so much. She didn't want to make her daughter happy by gifting her with exquisite things..but what else could they do? Swayam was out at work the whole day and so was she. But they had decided they would spend every Sunday and any holiday they got with her.
Sharon changed Sanjana's clothes and put her to bed."Where is Daddy?" Sanjana asked.
"Daddy will be home soon baby. He'll come and meet you first thing tomorrow morning. Good night sweetheart." Sharon said, stroking her daughter's hair.
"Good night Mommy."
Sharon switched off the lights and walked out of the room.
She went down the stairs and into the kitchen where 'Santa' was sitting, scarfing a McDonald's burger.
Swayam looked so cute in the Santa outfit.
He was wearing a fake white beard. Sharon had stuffed a pillow under his shirt so he didn't look too thin. Or 'lean', as Swayam preferred calling himself. And, of course, he was wearing the Santa costume along with the hat. The hat was however lying on the side.
They didn't want the children wondering who starved Santa.
Sharon was so busy staring at Swayam that she didn't realise he was watching her too.
"Is she asleep?" He asked.
"I just put her to bed. She should fall asleep soon. But why haven't u changed yet?"
"This stupid belt isn't coming out so I can't remove the damn thing!" Swayam said, looking frustrated.
"Awww my poor baby." Sharon said as she went over to him to help him out.
Swayam stood up so that she could remove the belt.
She tugged at the belt to remove it but it just would come off.
"Woah woa Sharon!" Swayam said trying to make himself steady. Sharon's pulling was make him lose his balance. He caught Sharon's waist in order to balance himself.
Sharon playfully removed his hands from her waist and looked up to see his reaction.
Swayam had a surprised expression on his face. He put his arms around her again and pulled her close to him.
Their faces were only a few centimetres apart.Swayam in his Santa outfit and Sharon in her red sequined dress. Swayam's Santa beard tickled Sharon's nose.
Swayam moved his face so that his lips almost touched Sharon's lips. He closed his eyes as he pulled her closer towards him.
Sharon looked at his face and decided to make fun of him. She brought her lips tantalizingly close to him and then pushed him away.
"What the -!" Swayam's opened his eyes wide in shock. He had expected a nice kiss from his ladylove as a reward for working so hard at being Santa for his daughter and her friends.
"I was supposed to remove that belt na? What happened about that?" Sharon said innocently.
"Belt, shmelt, it can be done later." Swayam said as he pulled her close to him again.
"Uh no darls." Sharon pushed him away again and went to the living room to get something pointy in order to unhook the belt.
Swayam looked at her slyly, realising that she was doing this on purpose.
'Two can play the same game, Sharon.' Swayam thought.
He picked up his hat and wore it. Then, he walked up to the kitchen door and leaned against it, watching her as she searched for a pen.
Sharon was well aware that Swayam had his eyes on her, so she purposely pretended to search for a pen inspite of it being right in front of her.
"Ahem" Swayam cleared his throat. "Sharon, I think there's a pen over there, near the vase."
Sharon cringed.
"Oh yeah, I didn't see it. My bad!" She said laughing.
She picked up the pen and went and stood near Swayam. She began working on unhooking the belt. Swayam watched her calmly as she did.
'What is he upto now?' She wondered as she pulled the belt with the pen.
Suddenly Swayam straightened up and shouted. Sharon moved away, shocked.
"Oh look Sharon! There's mistletoe lying on top of the kitchen door!" He said, looking at her with wide eyes. "Did you know that?" He continued, innocently.
Sharon looked at him , with one raised eyebrow. She didn't say anything.
"Well, you know.. I guess we'll have to just..you know..kiss! Since it's a mistletoe.."He said , trying to stop himself from grinning.
Sharon realised she had been defeated. She pushed Swayam lightly.
He caught her hands and brought her towards him.
This time he took control completely. He placed his dry lips on her lipstick coated ones and moved his hands up and down her back. Inspite of having been with her since almost 8 years now, he still went into a trance whenever she was near him.
Sharon was lost too. She placed with his hair as she kissed him.
They were so lost in each other that they didn't realise their daughter was watching them with wide eyes.
"Santa Claus is kissing Mommy!!" She screeched loudly, dropping the pink teddy bear(Miss Fluffy) from her hands.
Sharon pushed Swayam away quickly. She realised Swayam was still wearing his Santa outfit. Infact, she hadn't realised that some of the white cotton from his "beard" was on her face as well.
Sharon rushed towards her shocked daughter. Sanju looked grief stricken. She wouldn't even look at her mother.
Swayam quickly removed the hat from his head and sat down beside his daughter.
"Baby it's me, Daddy. Not Santa." He said, stroking her head to calm her down.
Sanju's eyes went even wider, if that was possible.
"Daddy..you're Santa Claus??"She said loudly.
"Um..actually..honey..the thing is that Santa doesn-" He began
"S-Santa was a little busy today, darling." Sharon said quickly, cutting Swayam off. She glared at him." So he called Daddy and asked him if he could give the gifts to Sanju and her friends instead!"
"Daddy knows Santa Claus?"
"Of course he does. Sanju is such a good girl. Santa likes Sanju a lot. So he found out Sanju's daddy's number and called him up!" Sharon said , beaming at her daughter.Swayam looked at her, impressed. She was one quick thinker. "But Santa will not give Sanju a gift next year because Sanju isn't sleeping on time." Sharon said frowning at her daughter.
But Sanju was least interested. She suddenly realised what she had just seen.
"Eww" She grimaced." Kissy!!" She screamed and picked up her teddy bear.
Sharon and Swayam both laughed.
Swayam picked her up and carried her back to her room.
After he came back, he was confronted by an angry Sharon.
"Why did you have to say that Santa doesn't exist??" She said, furiously.
Swayam held up his arms in defence."Woah,woah. I didn't say it."
"Yeah well you were going to anyway. She's kid Swayam. Let her find out on her own slowly." Sharon said.
"Arre but I just-"
"Shut up" She said. She pulled at his belt and it came out. Finally.
"Women." Swayam said, making a face.
"What did you say?" Sharon asked, looking at him very scarily.
"Nothing nothing." Swayam said as he pulled Sharon near him again. "We didn't get to complete that kiss."
