Turkish and Indian plays being aired on various TV channels of Pakistan have only coordinated in giving rise to vulgarity and degrading local channels.
These were the views of the famous TV artists of Pakistan on rising trend of replacing Pakistani plays with foreign ones.
TV artist Syed Nabeel called upon Pemra to enforce a code of conduct to limit the foreign channels. He quoted one of his friends, "I wish my son will say asalamualekum one day instead of namaste."
Faisal Qureshi opined that electricity, gas and commodities are also direly required by the people, thus it cannot be said that these plays are run on 'public demand'.
Expressing her views at a morning show, artists including Bushra Ansari severely criticized the plays, saying these must not become a substitute to Pakistani dramas and hijack the viewership.
