Yesterday's episode saw the three ladies of the Sindhia household ask for promises to be made by their better halves...

While Vidhi was a complete mother in asking for a promise which allowed her children to just be ...as they were...and blossom as they should in their own right...I really liked that...
However it would have been interesting had she asked for his 'time' and appreciation as well...displayed more explicitly!
Gayatri too was nice in asking for what a lady in her position would have asked which was rightly judged by her husband ...so many years of togetherness only meant knowing each other completely.
Now coming to the most important promise which is related to the story as it stands - is of Paridhi wanting Prateik to make a fresh start and forgive her for all her mistakes of the past. This was somewhat of taking a promise before revealing something that might get him upset or even angry...
and then leave him with the guilt of breaking the promise if he did
and sad/unhappy(as he was kept in the dark) if he kept the promise he made!
So as the quote above says - it all depends on transparency in relationships that promises make sense...If one partner knows something important enough and keeps it as a secret from the other, then asking for a promise only means buying peace for the future...How fair is that? It would have been commendable had she revealed the truth and then talked of the promise...that is my opinion...
Also must add that somewhere Prateik too was to blame as he could never stand by her needs and passion for working which led to her taking some bold decisions by herself ( which back fired...) as she was driven by her inner desires to make her dreams come true...
Coming back to promises, I thought - it was good to see the men go all out supporting their wives and making commitments which I hope they will keep...as the future unfolds! (especially Prateik...I really love his character in the show...)
