i think we are deviating here... should we be discussing black or SLB's competence as a judge? chill guys... 😃

i personally feel that to judge a dancing competition, a person should have an idea about the technical details, good knowlegde about various dance forms, and be able to give out constructive criticism. i dont think both SLB and Shilpa have these qualities in them.

The original question was why SLB is there as a judge. As per my opinion he is there to sign Mona or Sweta for his upcoming movie and both actresses are doing their best to please Mr.SLB!!!! It is like audition for him!!!

as far as his judging skills are concerned, i agree with cricfan. but then ofcourse, don;t u agree he may be slkightly better than the public?? so once the public decided fate of dancers, how much harm can SLB do?? nice post cricfan. thnx.

The harm that SLB can do is that the judges vote count for 50%. As the competition gets more intense and tight that 50% will make a huge difference between someone being out and someone moving on. Eventually, as the pairs dwindle down to 2 or 3, his arbitrary points could prevent a deserving pair from winning. That's the harm he can do. For example, if someone gets 20 points and someone else gets 25 points due to judge incompetence, this huge gap in points ( a 20-25% difference) could negate a 5 percent difference in voting where the couple getting 20 points could have received higher public votes. So, judges will play an increasing important role as the competition gets tighter and intense.

I think he is competent to judge if something looked nice or not...he directs movies and might not be bale to choreograph but will say if a dance was good or suited for the song or not...the same thing goes for Shilpa...even she is not a choreographer and doesnt know the finer details of dance but can judge it well...

I agree. BLACK is a very well directed movie & those sentiments are shared by almost entire nation. Cricfan may have something against SLB & his movies. Everyone has a right to voice his/her opinion, but that does not make an exceptionally telented director bad. Black's entry to Oscar was denied because of the lack of originality of the story.

Black was soooooo over-rated!! amitabh was too loud, rani was okay, even the younger girl was a bit too loud for me..

I agree here that SLB's qualification as a judge on JDJ show is highly debatable. The look on his face suggests as if he's doing Sony a gr8 favor. His comments after the performances are often useless for the contestants.

I am sorry I am not a big fan of SLB. I cannot sit out his films. I found his movies hyped and overbudgeted, movies that made big big holes in the producers' pockets. HDDCS, Devdas, Black were all pretty mediocre interpretations. He made his actors ham to the hilt. He achieved something impossible. He made my favorite actor Amitabh overact in Black. Rani was a miscast.


Earlier I thought his presence would effect the credibility of the show, however the show has been able to retain it somewhat due to the enthusiasm and sincerity of other participants. Mahesh is being favored by all the judges and not by SLB alone. He has got a very good partner.

SLB can't do a good judging coz he doen't know anything about dance technique like he never did dance and also he gives 10 to ppl which means perfect but that can't be poosible. Like if farah really loves a performance she would give them 9 but 10 is like they r perfect!!!
