Was Shyam the 'soul' of the show?

Think about it for a second.

This show really only had one major villain, Shyam. It started with him, and did it end with him as well?

I think it did.

Shyam was the main reason that these two couldn't get together, with his unsuccessful tricks, and creepy flirtations. That's where the real story revolved, the fact that Arnav and Khushi weren't able to get together because of this giant road block.

After Shyam left, the show didn't know which way to go. They brought in Dadi, ye that was ok, however that was still revolving around Shyam, and whole shocking Shyam exposure to Anjali occurred,

Then came the whole Sheetal track, and adopting the kid. That was really unnecessary, it didn't really have an end goal to it.

The original plot of the show with Shyam, and I do believe it was the one of the reasons we kept watching it. Just to see how these two will overcome his tricks, or will they overcome them at all?

I think if they introduced another "villain" while the Shyam fiasco was going on, the transition from one villain to another villain would be much easier. But because they didn't really introduce a Solid, and viable villain, the show didn't have much of a basis to continue any more.
Hence the random story lines, and the amount of interest in the show started to degenerate.

But Shyam, you were one heck of a villain!

I am the biggest Shyam phanki so had to comment on this post.😆 Shyam for me is truly the best villain ever on Indian TV. Everything about him is awesome. From his epic bg music to his twitching to his pure evilness. He was always the cupid responsible for bringing ArHi together. Love ya SMJ!❤️

For SMJ
Thank you for this post.😃

hmmm. it seems so. this is very true. ipk went completely offtrack after shyam.

i wouldn't say he was the " soul " of ipk but yes . he proved himself as a vital member of the show.

This is also what i think...Shyam was the character that used to give the inputs to the writers and gave a seriousness to the soap and look back at all the dhamakedar entries that he got...writers definitely had a soft corner for him
And well he was the best villain I ever saw in an Indian TV show!

I understand that Shyam was a huge part of the show, but to me Khushi was the soul of the show. Life started and ended with her. Bas.

Interesting. He did play a huge part in keeping them apart which created than tension and unpredictability which is essential to keep the suspense going. Once they got together, CV/PH did seem somewhat lost.
Once again, I strongly feel, they did not develop paralle tracks and explore other areas besides just relying on Arshi to pull the show. CV/PH got lazy. They let their show down. There was so much potential - ignored.
I agree - Shyam was one heck of a villein, very unique. IPK did give us epic characters. No dubt.

I always felt after Shyam was revealed (which seemed too easy for our detective trio knowing how sinister he was and always one step ahead he was) . It was a good time to end the love story, or as said introduce a parallel villain ahead of time, but alas it was not so.
Another option was bring Shyam back with sinister motives...
