I honestly didn't like the use of word pati paramishwar in today's episode even though it was just in a game.

Dear Sam

Pati 'Parmeshwar' Ye parmeshwar sirf kehne ke liye hota hai

Aaj ki zamaane mein Shaadi ki raat hi pati parmeshwar ko patni insaan bana deti hai

Chillax itna mat socho in baaton ko

Main POV ye hai ki Shiv Uska naam GOD ke naam se hai par SHIV ji ne kabhi khud ko bhagwaan nahi samjha tha

He was more closer to humans and other beings

Just like our dear C S Shiv Raj Shekhar.

Shiv has no GOD complex like Jagat did

He will be a husband, friend, lover, guide, etc to Anandi but never Parmeshwar

I dont think the term is offensive per se as long as it does not mean master (implying wife is servant)
also, i think parameshwar is used in the context of "paalanhaare", which means provider of all needs. obviously most if not all women in bv/jaitser dont earn and their needs are taken care of by their husbands. I dont think it is a superiority adjective. More to convey devotion and love and respect.

This is part of our culture..

They deified men by calling them pati parameshwar they deified women also by saying that mother is the roop of devi ma

These phrases were put in place just to reinforce the message that we should respect and honour our relationships because relationships are a gift of god.

Pati parameshwer means it is not just that wives should consider husbands as parameshwar it also means that husbands should love and care and protect their wives the way god takes care of his devotees.

@Aparna,

I agree with you. Like in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam, Jaya Bachchan says 'meri ma kehti thee ki pati parmeshwar hota hai'. Similarly a wife is called Ma, Ma Lakshmi, Durga etc. She has to step into sindoor filled water and walk a few steps into the house signifying entry of Lakshmi. Those are our traditions, neither becomes Parmeshwar nor Lakshmi. But young girls take this an affront these days, which I can't say I really understand. The truth used to be that the husband was the protector and provider of the family, children etc, now that is also changing.

I know of an attractive lady in her late 40s, who is divorced but when she travels on the Bombay locals, she wears her mangal sutra to ward off the local hooligans and unwanted attention.

So no matter how the new generation decries the old, the old had some value, some significance, even in today's modern life.
