very interesting topic, in fact I was thinking about this some time back when I was watching few old movies (early 90s).

When I was a kid, these so called romantic ways (pinning a girl against the wall, grabbing her hand, following her every where, not taking no for an answer and embarrassing her in public by proclaim his love) were all so amusing. The fact that I as an audience knew the hero will always be a good hearted brat and will protect the heroine against the bad guys his action were over looked & ignored!!

But this understanding changed over years,
Now I avoid watching the old movies simply because woman are made to look so weak, vulnerable and palin stupid. Their sole mission and purpose in life is MARRIAGE and all her dreams are focused on finding prince charming!

As members rightly pointed out, my main reason to dislike Pratigya serial was how star plus manipulated the audience on an important and sensitivity issue like eve teasing and woman / girl harassment into silly love story!!
The problem is not the teenage girls falling for such creeps but creeps getting more encouragement & openly humiliating girls. I remember seeing a documentary video on eve teasing and was shocked to know that this horrible behavior is very common in remote villages esp. North / North - eastern India! There these young men take pride in doing these things and girls usual ignore them!

Even though such acts are not seen in todays' movie I do not like how explicitly the romance is shown! The songs are so bad that you feel embarrassed and people set them as their ring tones! Like the other day in my office, one of the 3rd party helping staff had " oo la la " song as his ring tone and it was so annoying to having it play out loud in the office! I immediately asked him to get his ring tone changed!

Completely agree with you. Although I've seen more of this trend in the commercial south films and it seems to have been resurrected with films like Wanted, Dabang, Rowdy Rathore etc. It's just plain wrong and creepy. But what's even more disturbing is the fact that this stuff sells and even today it's being channeled through TV soaps. Whats more, these shows have millions and billions of young female fans 😲

I actually felt for Shahrukh's mentally unstable character in Darr:(
