Sushant Singh Rajput was the lead actor of Pavitra Rishta in Zee TV. He played Manav Deshmukh in it and gained a lot of popularity and awards (and a girlfriend 😆 ) thanks to the show. He is also a trained dancer from Shiamak's academy and was appreciated in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 4 for his dance as well as personality (he was the runner up.) He was Madhuri's favourite contestant on the show.

He quit Pavitra Rishta in October 2011 cos (1.) He wanted to go abroad and study film making (2.) He didn't want to play Dad to grown up kids (3.) He had started getting serious film offers from good production houses after JDJ 4 which he had to reject cos of Pavitra Rishta.

He is making his debut in UTV's Kai Po Che (directed by Rock On fame Abhishek Kapoor) which releases on Feb 22.
