Let me give you an example. The other day a man had come in his tempo to deliver goods at Soorajji's shop. The tempo was emitting black smoke which in turn was causing lot of air pollution. Soorajji was concerned about this and explained to him the outcome of polluted gas and how it affects the environment. Soorajji went an extra mile to help the man repair his tempo. How I wish, if everybody would take such efforts to improve the worsening situation around them, be it on any level, local or related to our country.
To be a good, responsible citizen, one should first learn to respect the other person. This applies to any individual from any class or position in the society. If you, as a person command respect and a certain behaviour from others, the same is applicable to you too.
Secondly, be ready to try and help others when they are undergoing a problem. If you cannot help, the least you could do is be sympathetic and not take undue advantage of the person. Many a times when I visit Soorajji at the shop, I observe that few people actually take the initiative to help a customer fight a cunning merchant at the grocery store or help an old person with his or her heavy baggage. Others will watch the fun to entertain themselves. And one can see this happening in so many other places in different situations.
Thirdly, being aware of the latest developments, good or bad with respect to our country and the world helps you grow as a person. Our problems look small when we hear and see the suffering some unfortunate people are forced to go through. This encourages us to unknowingly be participative in resolving issues that we face as citizens.
I sincerely hope that my views help to give you some clarity on how to become a good citizen. To know more about what a good citizen does, dial karein 5057827 aur suniye meri personal diaries STARPLUS ON MOBILEpar.
