MADHUBALA EK ISHQ EK JUNOON
10/31/12

Someone once rightly said , "Whenever you're in conflict with someone, there is one factor that can make the difference between damaging your relationship and deepening it. That factor is attitude." Kudos to RK for his rocking attitude throughout the episode , making me believe that whether it be Mallik or Madhu RK's efforts were sincerely aimed at deepening his relationship with Biwi and Sasurji.

Even though RK's mocking Mallik about Madhu's predicted reaction " I love u my qatil papa---- " was indeed ROFL worthy , it somehow managed to remind the stubborn Mallik of Madhu's plight, if she got to know of his involvement in the attempts upon RK's life. It was disappointing to see that RK's efforts to deter Mallik by offering him an opportunity to start
afresh with a sarcastic "Om Shanti Om" and reminding him that any blood flowing from RK would be Madhu's blood (indirectly trying to convey to Sasurji about Madhu's changed feelings in the process ), as well as the fact that hurting RK would mean hurting Madhu, apparently didn't seem to cut much slack with Mallik. Mallik's bathroom excuse and distracted looks led Madhu to the wrong conclusion that RK had again insulted or misbehaved with her family, angering her---Mallik on the other hand couldn't get out of RK mansion fast enough lest RK spill the beans on his real intentions shattering Madhu's impression of her valiant father. The Sasur Damad face off was a blessing in disguise , as I feel it compelled both men to rethink the consequences of their anger and hatred and its effect upon Madhu. Madhu's silent treatment and RK's novel filmy way of getting her to vent her anger through mock dialogues was truly a treat to watch, but makes me wonder how RK conveniently had a suitable script handy-----so much for dramatic liberties again ---hehe. Madhu's dramatics with the soup tray and holding the spoon at arms length , reminded me of RK's antics with the Aarti thaali not so long ago and reinforces my belief that RK and Madhu are truly " birds of a feather" whether they accept it or not. Mallik's hasty depature from Madhu's sasural and his preparation to leave town under the pretext of outdoor shooting indicates that RK's words did effect him after all------his fear of facing Madhu lest she finds out about his intentions, is what's prompting his attempts to leave town. Mallik's worried and anxious expression upon hearing Padmini talking to Madhu belied his previous pseudo bravado with RK -------depicting a father's greatest fear -----that of falling in grace and stature in his daughter's eyes. Again a brilliantly executed episode leaving me saying----yeh dil maange more and more !
